ASUS CMP 30HX Mining Card Spotted with RGB Lighting

We saw Gigabyte release the first NVIDIA CMP (Crypto Mining Processor) 30HX card last week, ASUS has now revealed their version of the card with RGB lighting. The ASUS CMP30HX-6G features the same design as the ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER DUAL EVO minus the display connectors. The card features a 2.7 slot design with a dual-fan cooling solution which appears to be the most common design for these cards. The clock speeds and memory configuration are identical to that of Gigabyte's which are both the same as the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER on which the CMP 30HX is based on. The ASUS CMP 30HX will reportedly launch in May with a MSRP of 799 USD which is similar to other rumors.

It does'nt add anything usefull as you want to keep the power consumption as low as possible. One card might not be the culprit but 10 to 30 in a row do.
 
IMHO 1 form of a video output would be nice so these cards could be used one day down the road.
 
hey, 799USD is the roughly the same price as GTX 1660 Super/Ti right here
 
When you are bitcoin minner from youtube and want to force people to invest into your rigs and loose their money, RGB lighting is must have feature for those videos
 
From a strictly functional point of view, RGB is just as useful for mining as it is for gaming, so I guess why not. :rolleyes: :D

msrp $799 for 30mhs on eth hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahaha, same 30mhs 5 months ago was selling for 100 usd ehhehehehehehehehehheehheheehheheeh, welcome to greedy and as soon as cryptocoins crash 95% just like 2011, 2014 and 2018, these mining cards will be $50 at most, rx 580 was selling for $50 usd few months ago.

That would remove the entire point of these. They're made intentionally obsolete for gaming so as to not draw supply from gamers.
 
Speaking as a former recovered small farm operator in the ltc era, I could actually see megafarms using this on racks to visually signal malfunctioning hardware.
 
RGB to add even more power consumption to this terrible development.
 
the price seems to reflect the current Ebay price per M/sh for a normal gpu.. it puts a 3070 card with double the m/sh at $1600 which is about right... no need for scalpers with these.. the scalping starts right at the beginning.. he he

Why. The point is lowering all possible power draw to make it the most efficient.
 
the 1660 generation of cards are not very power efficient anyway.. the 3xxx series generate far more hash for the power used than older generation cards..

for example my 3070 cards use about the same power as my older 1070 cards but generate more than double the hash rate..

...so as to not have any resale value, making sure gamers will have to buy new instead of used, no matter what. These cards do draw supply from gamers, as they use the same GPUs that could have been put onto a gaming card instead of these.

I thought it was a myth RGB can boost FPS, now I believe RGB can also increase hashrate.

These are designed not to flood the second hand market once mining crashes again. Last time that happened sales of new cards collapsed for months.

These cards are built on the 1660ti right? Which means they are built on the old 14nm process, not the 8nm, and are not taking stock from ampere cards.

I would imagine these are cards which don't spec up to be gaming cards - artifacting on display would ruin gaming but be absolutely fine for mining. It's selling off what would otherwise be e-waste, not taking supply from gamers.

This isnt taking away any supply from anyone unless someone is really looking for a 1660 super.

I mean, with the current shortages there are people looking for older cards. The 1660 super can probably fetch upwards of $600 on the used market these days (just check eBay), so getting a new one for MSRP seems a good option for those unable to get current gen cards.
That being said, it's a moot point either way because the CMP cards are defective gaming cards as mentioned. It doesn't matter if they're based on a 3090 or a GT 710, either way, they wouldn't work for gaming even with a display output.

Instead, they will simply be e-waste, and nvidia will never have to worry about their profits.

One of my friends wants to upgrade his 1060 6 GB. He would give an arm for even a 2060. My brother is stuck with a 960 and has a limited budget for PC parts. Not everybody wants the latest and greatest.
