According to some in this thread, i would need a new PSU in order to be more "safe". See my system specs for what i currently have. I mostly use my PC for casual gaming, video editing/rendering, streaming and multi-tasking/browsing. My budget for a new PSU: About €/$200.

Another reason i would need a new PSU, is so i can have my current PSU on the hold, in case something would happen to my current system.

Like always, im located in Norway, so the prices here can be over the top compared to other places...

But yeah, any recommendations for a good enough PSU to my needs and setup? Once again, i hope that TPU-members can help/advise me on this.

No Amazon in your country makes recommending hardware difficult. I suggest you do a bit of browsing on your local hardware websites to find some PSUs in your price range, then post a list and we can suggest which to consider further and which to avoid.

I also strongly suggest consulting the PSU tier list which ranks PSUs by their performance and build quality. It is not authoritative, but is a very useful reference.

My personal recommendation would be a Corsair RM 750W. While all the other divisions of Corsair are competing with each other to see which can put the most RGB into things, their PSU division simply keeps churning out great products year after year - thanks to a large degree to the the fact they hired John Gerow aka Jonnyguru, the man who almost single-handedly made proper PSU testing a thing, as their Director of R&D.

I got an rm1000x for 75$ from the second hand market 2 weeks ago, it looks embarrassingly new

Hmm, i did a search at the available stores, and so far, i found these candidates:
- Seasonic Focus GX 750w
- EVGA SuperNova GT 750w

And yeah, no Amazon here makes things unnecessary "problematic" from time to time, i must admit....

Seasonic TX850 = too much above my price, unfortunately. :/

Compare the warranty between the 2 and make your selection

So, then it would be the Seasonic, as they offer a 10-year warranty vs EVGA's 7-year. But, is 750w enough for me and the field of use as i mentioned in my OP? I also run 4 monitors quite so often, but they probably don't take too much power, or?

Monitors don't take power from PSU. They cause your gpu work harder due to higher combined resolution.
For your current config 750w is enough

I use a 750W power supply and it's definitely more than enough for my system and 750W is certainly enough for your PC (if your System Specs is correct).

IMHO, stick with EVGA and get a 750W or 800W model. Keep your 550W as a spare. You'll be golden!

EVGA SuperNova GT 750w
This is a good one!

The Corsair RM850 would be a good pick. They're 1643 NOK or so on Komplett (it's the only Norwegian retailer I know), that should turn out to be about 160 euros, buy chocolate with the rest :D

The RM750 mentioned earlier in the thread is also a solid pick but with the 850 comfortably fitting the bill, can't hurt having a bit more kick. Good luck! :)

If his sony is a 4k TV, then probably a 850w better since he can upgrade his gpu for more vram.

Corsair x series have Japanese capacitors. Just 10 bucks over non-x version

Yes if you can get the ones with the Japanese Caps I believe it will be better in the long run.

NOTE: I've been running on the Rosewill 850watt 80+ Gold for close to 3 years. At the time it used Japanese Caps and I bought it for $75.00 It's running great because I am never putting a full load on it even when I'm playing games of using those stressful programs. Right now its under 300 watts when it is stressed I can add another 80 watts and still be under my stress load limits.

This is rather nice when I upgrade my video card and down vote it. I should be under the 380watts umbrella for that PSU

The Reason why I bring up my PSU is I just saw some on Ebay @$79 US dollars. I believe it is low because of the next generation components (YEA YOU NGREEDIA) and increase of wattages to run those components.

But yes. If you can get ones with Japanese Caps its worth the extra 10 or so dollars for the expense.

Ok, so according to these posts, i should go with either 750w or 850w. Nice to know that it will be enough for me.

Hmmm, yeah, the 550w will be a spare. I just don't know which of their 850w models to go for... GT or?
Only thing to add to this is the ATX version. Superflower Leadex V and the new fractal Ion+ 2 say V2.52.

go to top right and pick your country
I understood very little of that. Are those some things i need, or?

Is the Rm850 you mention the same ad this one: https://www.komplett.no/product/119...U/Fans&utm_content=800-899W&utm_term=in_stock

It says it is 2021 model...

Yes I have updated my specs now. And yeah, i have a 4k tv now that will be used for netflix etc.

Im sorry but what are these japanese caps you guys mention? Is it really a necessary thing for me to get, or?

So, it seems that i should go for either of these models:
- EVGA 850W (but which of their 850w?)
- Corsair RM850 850W

The 850w seems to be well within my budget as well, so it seems to be a safer option to go for 850w...

Ohh, i forgot to add 1 important "requirement": a PSU that is quiet would be a preferable choice! Any recommendations then?

Just get Corsair RM1000 and u are more then good.
PSU is the most important part so better to buy better :D

They're made by Nippon Chemi-Con

One easy way is to get more wattage than you need. They have zero-fan mode. But they start spinning when you reach a certain wattage
take a look:

for example, with rm1000x your fan may never spin (absolute silence) because most of time you're using less than 400 watts (web surfacing, while not doing graphically intensive work)
your GPU 200w + 12700k 125w

Thanks for that graph! Seems like 850W will be the ideal choice for me then; well within my budget, most of the time, it will be in zero-fan mode and seems to fit my setup more than nicely. Of course, if i can find an second-hand 1000w, i might as well go for that. In fact, there is someone reliable selling a RM1000x for €90, which seems to be a nice price, depending on how much it is used etc. Is RM1000x worse/less quiet than RM1000? And by reliable, i mean it's a certified user who doesn't scam/sell bad products. I sent him a message about the PSU.

Like I said in your previous thread, the current PSU will do the job but the noise may irritate you. You will need to try it out. I said I would personally upgrade but once again that is me not you. As far as a new PSU, your current make and model is good PSU so a 650w or 750w (if it's on sale) version of it. Otherwise a well reviewed unit from top brands/oems like Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA or one of the many other brands that piggyback on the platforms they use.

Im sorry but what are these japanese caps you guys mention? Is it really a necessary thing for me to get, or?
It's a pure marketing term with no actual definition. Without the exact cap make and model it's pointless.

- Corsair RM850 850W
850w is overkill since you wont even be pushing that PSU to the half way point. If you want to spend the money go ahead but a quality 650w will do the job or a solid 750w.

Thanks for that graph!

those are marketing slides and pointless, go look at an actual review. I'm not knocking the RMx line, it's excellent just the slides. Aris had the fan on the RMx650 coming on at 325w while operating around 44c (an important stat missing from those slides).

noise level seems similar:

notice the yellow line is above the 10db gray bar. RMx graph is more zoomed in.
and RM1000 goes above 25db at max. while RMx is below 24 at 1000 watts

40% is 400 watts ...

A power supply is actually an ATX power supply. ATX is the standard/specification it is constructed and tested to. ATX 2.4 spec is about 10 years old while version 2.52 is about 4 years old.

Thanks for commenting in this thread as well!

Yea, i do want to be on the safe and more quiet side, so an upgrade is on my agenda.

I have now found these alternatives that are well within my budget:
- Asus ROG Strix 750W (€80, used for 1 week)
- Seasonic Focus GX 750W (€90, new)
- Corsair RM850x (€80, new)
- Corsair RM1000x (€90, used for 1 month)
- Corsair RM750x (€90, used for 1 month)

Surely one of them is a good enough option? I am considering either the RM850x or the Seasonic Focus GX 750w.

I am trying to follow this list as well: https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/ - and all of the above are mentioned there.

Any thoughts on that?

Of that list I'd take the new Corsair RM850x

Because you know its new and you will have some headroom for a possible next hardware upgrade.
