Perhaps in eight years when they're $200.

They'll still probably burn down your house o_O

Once 1200w plus psu with the 16pin connector are widely available I'm sure they will release it.

Had they released a 600w+ gpu now a bunch of idiots would burn down their houses trying to power it which is bad publicity

We should really be rejecting this trend honestly, no need to buy these monstrous power hungry bricks!

Here's a poll for you:
How much did you pay for it?
A: 1500$
B: 3000$

after converting the currency i paid about $1650 usd so slightly above msrp
which is not bad considering alot of bot were waiting for the gpus at alot of the popular online shops
i manage to snag one because they were gone instant it was on sale
originally i wanted an rtx3080 but it was sold out for over a year

Have a 3080 and a 3070ti as a spare. Do not need a card for the next few years.

But anyone calling someone a fanboy is a fanboy themself.
Or just sees blatant fanboyism. Sometimes that can happen too. I know, it's rare.

Does anybody know how low-down new GPUs go on Black Friday? If at all?

do you think 4070 will be a good card?

regarding the value king hypothesis, so you'd be betting for 4070 to be 500 bucks not 700$ (while being more outside of US market anyway)
Let me rub my crystal ball...

I have no idea, but we have a few certainties;
4070:
- It will draw north of 200W, I'm guessing 250~275W board power.
- 2,5 slot... I think 2 slot won't be a given.
- It will only represent value if RDNA3 is barely competing at that price point, and 550~600 bucks I think is more likely than 500. Even if RDNA3 same perf undercuts it at 500; but if it drops at 450, we will see movement.

So, good card? Not the value king, for sure, but rather the entry level high end which means there's an excuse to make you overpay.

That's why I think the value's going to be at 4060 level cards, which is the common theme with Nv;
- 200~220W board?
- 8~12GB, will we see another 10?
- $349~399.

Should I start my own YT channel? :D

Probably apt here!

I wasn't expecting it to have 76 billion transistors. Next gen will certainly have more trans than human brain neural cells.
I wonder if that DLSS part can not be used for AI. otherwise we have a full fat digital brain for Machine Learning.

Pretty much agree with all of this... I could also see the 4080 12GB being phased out and replaced with a 4070ti at a much lower price If RDNA3 is competitive and much cheaper.... Not holding my breath though.

Apselutely not. 1600 usd for a gpu is apselutely a horrible price. It's to power hungry and besides the world is fast approaching a global recession. So burning 1600 usd+ does not seem to be the best idea right now to me.

The only reason I am considering a new gpu, is because my current rtx 3080 is the the 10 gb version and that is to little amount for my needs. So I am considering rtx 4080 16 or amd rnda 3 like wise card. Rtx 4080 16 gb is all ready at a horrible price. 1200 usd and it's not even a ti version. I may not even get a new gpu do to the looming recession. I will make a final decision in November/December after seing how serious is the risk of i can lose my job by then. I do have a rtx 3080 so I can cope with it, if needed.

We needed two polls for NO?

This is a dumb poll and I'm not sure of the purpose besides looking for an argument.

It will hinge on how well AMD next Gen cards do. Nvidia typically doesn’t give a shit about holiday sales but they will very quickly fight AMD on price

Best comment.

Why not? 2 X 350W = 700W. The 1200W power supply a person would want for that could pull ~1350W from the socket at full load. Setting aside that the system won't be running at full capacity, a 15A household circuit can safely supply a single 1500W load. What am I missing here?

This is a dumb poll and I'm not sure of the purpose besides looking for an argument.

I made this poll to see how many would possibly buy a 4090 or are considering it. If you feel that it is stupid to query your fellow members here then so be it. No one is arguing here and if they start then there are moderators here to deal with them.

I also wanted to see (change vote option) how the poll will look after W1zzard's review of the 4090s (change vote option available).

There was a time when buying the best of the best was imperative to any of my builds. I've outgrown that silly mindset thankfully. I still enjoy reading about the latest and greatest of course. But NO, I won't be buying any component that costs more than a grand. There isn't anything out there that my 6800xt doesn't play just fine. Not to mention the green knife in my back still smarts a bit.

I'll buy the grandkids something badass for Christmas instead ;) Something that makes lots of noise muhahaha!

Its just noise, ignore it. The poll is great, good job ;)

It could, but that is not really the point here. It was funny though.

Now, 2x AIB 3090 Ti cards @550w each and a 12900KS @240w? THAT will have you clenching up when the fans ramp.

We needed two polls for NO?
There are many ways to get a graphics card

steal it
make it yourself
buy it on launch date
be a YouTube celebrity and get it before launch date for review
buy it 5 years later at half the price
buy it from an scalper at twice the price
buy it on a black Friday. Single's day or any discounted festival
Win it in a lottery
each of these can have a poll and discussion of its own

It's too big, it's too power-hungry, it's too expensive. It would have to lose all three of these traits for me to consider it. In short: not in my price and performance range, and never will be.
