Sapphire's Radeon RX 7900 Cards Make an Early Appearance on Amazon

Ok, I will tell you in a more simple language. It's more difficult to cool down a black object.

These stupid idiots at AMD.
Will refuse to buy this crap RX 7900 XT now
More difficult if it's out in direct sunlight on a hot day. I better stop using my 3080 FE on the roof in summer then, got it. I'll also write to NV telling them that putting a black heatsink on the card makes it run hotter according to some guy on a forum.

You may want to look up how Black Body Radiation works. Black emits radiation (including infrared, ie: HEAT) the fastest of all colors.

I wonder if that solid backplate will trap heat/shorten life?

And it absorbs heat better, which is kind of important when you’re designing a heatsink.

But radiation doesn’t really matter when you throw convection and conduction in the mix. I’d be more worried about what sunlight is doing to ambient temps than how much it affects differently colored components with active airflow.

Usually it is better at transferring heat and the case should expel the heat afterwards.

Unless you got a typical modern case where its all Glass and RGB.

This is the first time I have felt a spark of excitement for an AMD card. This would look good in my system and many others.

AMD"s models look pretty decent, awaiting on Sapphire's Nitro models with a 40% price increase

Also Arf, stop trolling & get a life.

TLDR; people have their cards exposed to sunlight and they might get hot so….. better buy the black Ngreedia card for more money!

Hope this will be "default theme" on all RDNA3, so 78xx got same treatment. These card sure look fantastic.

Get lost

They might be naive but they’re not an asshole ;)

You missed out with the R9 290X VaporX, that card was a nice addition to any color layout

probably the best looking FE card ive seen from AMD way better design aesthetics than nvidia. Somehow they managed to give it an aggresive look without making it look gamer-y. Now if any of their partners manage to make a white colored one man its gonna be hard to resist just based on aesthetics. hope it performs as good as it looks.

Ofc Black gets hotter in the sun, but thats not the CASE here :)
And i realy dislike white hardware.

Do you actually read complete comments or do you simply pick just parts of them that fit your narrow minded attitude so you can create the impression of being smart? You don't have to answer that, I'll save you the time and do it for you: You are not, it's just pathetic!

I wonder who is trolling here?

Obviously an nvidia user cannot comment on Radeon prices :D

Black objects are warmer than white objects.

Sapphire should cancel this product!

:kookoo:
Read some physics - basic physics.

Light energy can be converted into heat energy. A black object absorbs all wavelengths of light and converts them into heat, so the object gets warm. A white object reflects all wavelengths of light, so the light is not converted into heat and the temperature of the object does not increase noticeably.
are black objects hotter than white - Google Search

Black radiator is the best for winter months since its electricity consumption will be lower and its temperature will be lost slower than if it were white.
You're talking about light. I'm wondering how much light your black (or any other colour) PC absorbs. Unless you're using it outside in direct sunlight, I'm guessing, zero.

On topic: I think AMD's stock cooler design gets better and better looking with every generation. My 6750 XT is beautiful, but the 7900 series... Wow. Just wow!

Am I the only one that find this design ugly AF?

Hi,
Black goes with everything
I like the smaller fan in the middle so the cooler doesn't extend past the actual board to much
Whether it make the fan noise more noticeable guess we'll have to wait for reviews.

I am looking forward to the full lineup of custom 7000-series cards at the start of 2023.
This simple minimalistic approach of all-black designs doesn't catch the eye at all.
It's super dull.

Why didn't they put at least some RGB?

Look at how beautiful the cards were back in time!

Pfft. The all blue HIS IceQ Radeons were the best!

Yes! ;)

You're kidding, right? As someone had stated, black goes with just about every modern mobos, and I do believe the reference cards do have LED/RGB, it's not as overly done like certain AIB models. The RGB on my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT is nice and subdued, I like it that way. Certain AIB cards have gone way overboard with RGB....at least, that's my take on this.

I totally get it, you like to game on an open air chassis in a greenhouse, and you don't like black. Maybe Sapphire will still make the card in white just for you. I personally, am not a fan of white PC parts in any way shape or form. I do however understand that some people do like them, so they will continue to be made. Then again, I care twice as much about the bang for the buck versus what the damn thing looks like. Ascetics are just a bonus!

This is better:
