No and no. It doesn't need much more expensive cooling,, especially for gaming - you can use a 30€ cooler.

Doesn't matter. Its easier to cool due to better IHS and larger die. Plus 150 W is fine for even a cheap aftermarket cooler.

It's 2:1:1 forthe settings now right ? is there a 2:2:1 setting ? cause I'm curious how it effects Zen 4

I'ts nice to see that with a the next 3D vcache were getting more OC options, seems like AMD is slowly ironing out those vcache oc issuse to get closer to normal non-vcache chips

I have the same thought. If you are willing to pay a lot to make 10FPS above 200 and complain about power consumption, the bill doesnt add up. ⁣

Outright gaming performance is slightly disappointing that it's not further ahead of Intel, basically tied.

But what kills Intel's 13900K and 13900KS is this:

Pretty impressive considering AMD has an R&D budget of less than a third of Intel's! It's obvious that the 7800x3d will be the new pound for pound (fps per dollar) gaming champion....the crazy efficiency advantage is a big plus too, unfortunately a lot of PC "enthusiasts" seemed to have only cared about efficiency when Nvidia released maxwell, haha.

Doesn't matter. The issue is thermal transfer bottleneck not total thermal load.

To suggest over double the power consumption (actually closer to triple) 'doesn't matter' is an extremely bad take. It's pretty much all that matters in this case as performance is more or less the same.

Yeap With the exception of cyberpunk that basically melts Intel cpus in terms of power draw, everything else runs cool and quiet even with el cheapo air coolers.. Now I don't know if the 3d runs even cooler, but that's not the point and it doesn't matter. The point is your average 40-50€ cooler is enough for gaming no matter what you choose.

Wait..how? I'm looking at the average FPS charts and the 7950x3d is at the top...then looking at the hypothetical 7800x3d, it's even better for AMD...am I reading it incorrectly?
