2 days of retrobrighting....

Old and "new"
It needs 1 or 2 more days

Is it nostalgic if it's only about 9 years old? Seems like these were ~4000 or so USD each when new, what a cool card to buy two of at the same time. It'll be fun trying to see if they work, and then I suppose... How to use them? Awesome cards to add to the collection for the eventual 'museum'.

Till not long ago it was news to me you could have four GPU's on one PCIE card.

Nvidia GRID K1, I got two for $40 AUD.

Seeing as I will soon be the proud owner of a Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL "Golden Flame" mobo, this meant I have to make some "preparations".

:D

I also have a MX440-8X with the same type of golden PCB the Soltek uses, not pictured here currently. Probably a bit weak but hey, I would love me some yellow fun, especially as I am down with a awful flu. At least I'll have the Soltek to keep me entertained, alongside the NF7.

(to imagine how painful it is - I have moments when I start shaking uncontrollably and my thighs absolutely start aching to the point I scream of pain )

Add the AM2NF3-VSTA (which I happen to own) and you'll have practically the 3 best retro boards. ;)

I already have a few good mobo
Asus Tus2-c
Abit ST6 (p3 1.4s)
Abit ic7 (2) (3ghz nortwood and prescott)
Abit ip35 pro (q9550, xeon 3210)
Abit Nf7 and S (5) durons, 2500,2600,3000 athlons

... but i dont have time to play with them.
And a few boxes agp video card, loads of rams...

20240323_141705.jpg20240323_140225.jpg

I can count a few ABITs in my collection that I like:

-BE6-II (P3 1000EB)
-BP6 (2x Celeron 333)
-NF7 2.0 (Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+)
-IS7-E 1.2 (P4 Northwood HT 2.8GHz)
-IP35 Pro-XE (C2D E8400)

And soon to come, 2x VP6, depending on how fast does PostNL/TNT and our local Romanian Post move.

GeForce2 mx 200.

actually owned it actually my first overclock got to 250 mhz

Just woke up today morning and checked my phone to find out:

- Soltek is coming up later this day
- VP6s are now in EU! (Netherlands)

Well, that's a great way to start a morning. I guess I gotta prep up some stuff for the VP6s as well, besides the Soltek, for which I can't decide what CPU to go with.

Look who's here. :D

Huh. So all it took to get a upgrade on this Soltek was... just a mobile 2600+, a bit of FSB/multi fiddling... and 'ere we are

Still got no idea how to get past the "Unknown CPU Type" as the CPU string though. Anyone have any ideas?

I love these "opening boxes of Retro goodies videos" (sorry) :D

Another cheap pick up, unsure if it works but at the price I paid it's a fantastic addition to the collection anyway.

ATi Radeon HD 5970 2G

From last Sunday:

- GB P35-DS3
- C2D E6600
- 4GB DDR2
- MSI GT210
- SB X-Fi SB0730 + case badge
- 1TB WD Green (WD10EALS) that is surprisingly 7200RPM.

Had Windows 7, might nuke it, add a 8800GTX and start fresh with a 10/7 dualboot.

Also, an peculiar 1TB drive shows up. 5 bad sectors, all relocated already.

The weird thing - looks like a normal SATA2 drive, acts like a SCSI/SAS drive.

The sentinel says it only has 92 days left to live. :D You're screwed man! I got a couple older HGST's from back then that are stilling going too. One came in a IOMEGA 80GB drive, a 1TB from 2010 and i think i have a 128GB too thats them too, but id have to go look to be sure. They seem to be tanks that dont want to die. :toast:

92 days... yeah, he ain't budging lol. He'd well push forth until he can't no more.

Jokes aside, I'm surprised it runs... its other sibling (same model even) scraped its platters without any reason.

Otherwise, I have a lot of HGST/Hitachi/IBMs running. Even Excelstor branded drives, and the well known Deskstars - a 35GXP and a 60GXP... can't find much about the 60 but the 35 is one of their metal plattered drives.

92 days, as lifetime should be 3000 days...interesting, as health is OK.

Maybe you should make a back-up of the drive - just in case it has "software failure built in".
