What are you playing?

Wake up, maybe do co-op, on your own server with your own ruleset/settings (3x the crafting mats, sure np!), figure out you're a vampire so you hate the sun and need blood instead of a Viking that needs blood.

Then proceed to build your castle on any place in a huge world map that is free to explore but level gated nonetheless, so not quite so free, and slay bosses to unlock powers.

So, a pretty identical sort of damnation :) But the mechanics that were added to it really hit the spot. Its brilliant, combat is also quite a bit smoother than Valheims'. Plus you can really go to town on your castle decoration and shit. I just figured out that you can have human servants to guard your castle, you can build tombs to raise undead; you can have multi story castles and I'm just in Act 1 yet. Its isometric so feels Diablo-ey but its really just Valheim in a different perspective.

Boss fights are hard, at least, I had some trouble with the fisherman yesterday. And not hard because scaling, but hard because mother of god its chaos and you have to really use the combat perks you get.

Thanks for the heads up, this one flew under my radar. Looks very interesting.

Orcs Must Die 3 was free on Epic last Friday. It inspired me to play an Endless. That Game is an ode to the Arcade.

A cozy home

I think it infected me at this point. I need blood.

Just finished the main part of Control. Great game, BUT HOLY HELL HOW FREQUENTLY IT CRASHES!

Some out of the blue, and many with an error message. Those including the ridiculous "out of video memory" - ON A 7900 F***ING XTX.

That's the infamous 'Intel is unstable' message. Could possibly just be an instability in your setup. Maybe too much negative CO, or GPU undervolt?

Card at stock, CO at -15 (yup, -20 is enough to destabilize my early bird 5700X3D, I've proven this with Phasmophobia).

Huh. Almost the only game I ever played with Amazon Luna (similar to GeForce NOW). Not easy with the input lag but at least it was as stable as my Ethernet connection.

Hmmm. Maybe kill any CO and see if the errors continue?
CO being an issue or not, if you check both Reddit or the Steam Community you'd see complaints about it crashing are common (even on the Xbox, do you believe it?). Can still play it (and I still have more to do), it's just that I never know when a crash will come and make me lose a little progress.

Yep, got infected as well.

Decent visuals, and it runs fast. 120FPS+ crowd will appreciate. Few micro stutters when panning in new areas noticed. Not hardware demanding at all. Controls are good, somewhat Warcraft style which is not bad IMO. Camera highly adjustable (zoom, tilt, panning). Some interesting game mechanics like bonuses dependent on different types of blood. Solo play, server (host), dedicated server ~190 players max, LAN, PvE, PvP... Overall very promising MP title.

Lately I'm playing couple of games, and tried a few.

Alan Wake 2_2024.05.08-02.59.png

Alan Wake 2. A game that hates my GPU undervolt. Best lip sync I've ever seen in a video game. Amazing details and lightning. Terrible performance. Even though I can max it out (no RT OFC) at 1440p, and have stable ~60FPS it's not smooth and each panning move makes me sick. Looks gorgeous without mouse movements. Perfect game for a perfect screenshots. I just don't care. And long gone are the years I could properly enjoy horror games. RL kinda took over that role unfortunately.

Flower. A piece of history bought from GOG for less than 2EUR. Game looks amazing maxed out, and it's even utilizing my hardware well. So far saw no problems that Steam reviews are pointing out. Maybe it's a steam thing exclusively? Gone with the wind. :)

Sky: Children of the Light. Installed this on both of my rigs as a co-op relaxation option. It's obviously "inspired" by the games mentioned in my latest replies in this thread. Make friends or silly cosmetics - your choice. Don't spend RL money on this, it's a cash grab machine in its core (game mechanics). Avoid playing on a daily basis - an advice from the veterans.

I've tried IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. Amazingly complex flight simulator with a huge community. I kinda forgot the fact it's a hardcore sim, so I'll put it aside until I get some proper gear, time and will to properly enjoy it. I just can't fly the damn thing, not even for a screenshot.

A bit of tweaking the setup of my coupe-that's-definitely-not-a-Nissan-GTR. [Automation]

Note: the interior has been fixed but I forgot to snap a pic so the old (shorter dashboard) will do for now. Test drive on the mod map "American road". [BeamNG.drive]

The magic of Remedy, just how Alan Wake Remastered still has unresolved issues with shadows and lighting.

Time for another replay of Alpha Centauri. This game holds a special place with me. I have put in thousands and thousands of hours playing this game over the last 25 years and it is the most addictive game that I have ever played. There is so much that you can do with this game with built in tools. You can edit the map, scenario rules, game rules, factions, units, diplomacy, technology advances and even edit the file of what factions say to you depending on your stance with them. I will be Chairman Yang once again.

Rather something hardware related or they broke this game recently. I played Control on two configs (or three if we count GPU swap) and don't think it ever crashed. Last time I played soon after Alan Wake 2 launched and I came back to Control to finish campaign I started on previous rig long time earlier. Give it a try without any uv and similar.

Wonder that maybe I could run at 4K finally at 60+ fps as I upgraded from 6700 XT to 3080 10GB. RT may still be a no-no

With framegen, dlss performance - sure. But you might run into vram issues with pathtracing.

Same, I've finished the main game on my old 1600X/GTX 1070 system and then the DLCs 'EPIC version' with my i3 12100F/RTX 3060 Ti 'RT enabled' and I've had no issues.

Almost every DLSS FG game can be run with FSR FG mods, maybe that.

:shadedshu: ..my mighty castle in the north is gone. Gotta start all over again in V Rising.
I noticed they added more camps and enemies at the start.

Updates break saves, just updated to 1.0.2 and found out. A lot of people hosting dedicated servers are pissed off.

Just restarted my MAME addiction, once I wrap my brain back around and Amiga emulator and a C64 one I'll be completing my walk back into retro. Feeding them into my streaming feed once they're reliable (MAME seems to like to freeze a lot more on it's current iteration)

Side note, my son seems to love playing elevator action.
