What's your latest tech purchase?

I'd be embarrassed on that kids toy ;)
I just use it to go to work, and maybe the stores. Everyone loves it lol. Kinda funny. Only one guy called me a fag.. I would too probably. But I have a wife a kids, and no closet so Im good :)

More a recent repair than a purchase

Really like my TrippLite isobar surge protectors, but the neon light wears out on some, so I replace the switch even though it does not affect their ability.

The move to black works well (I got a good price on the black version of the switch).

My first 4K monitor, just arrived: Philips 288E2A -> 28" @ 3840x2160 @ 10-bit and my Quadro runs it at 10-bit and with some calibration it really shines. Text is crisp, colours are way different than I had before. Cost is €245 (shipping/VAT included), but I sold my old monitor and upgrade dropped to ~€169. Gotta invest in a monitor stand as this one only tilts, no height adjustment or swivel.

I have the one same at work, with the Arctic X1-3D monitor arm. For office work this monitor is banging.

Couldn't agree more. Thinking of getting this one: Loctek Basic DLB851. About ~€40 shipped. It's never simple in tech world, like I didn't know there were spring-based and gas-based monitor arms. Then dual vs 2x1 single for a two monitor setup...choices...choices...

Nvidia stock.

Maybe in ten years when AI rules us all, I will cash out, and I too will go to silicon valley as Jensen does below.

Apparently I went to her wedding, as her husband used to work at the same company as my wife.

Could you measure the maximum height from desk to the center of the VESA mount? My arm maxes out at 38 cm which is kinda short.

I still don't see a reason to pay double for a gen 5 SSD.
I'll replace my SN850x boot drive with the 990 Pro and put the SN850X in the USB enclosure and use it for Backups.

I'll do that tomorrow.

Nah, I checked spec sheet, shows max 52.5 cm, which is way more than mine. Ordered one from Amazon, should be here tomorrow.

My latest purchase was an XFX Speedster AMD RX 7800 XT to replace a dead RX 5700 XT. Great run out of the 5700 XT, lasted from 2019 until June 9, 2024. Of course, with how huge video cards are today, I had to replace my Fractal Design Meshify C case, so I got the NZXT H9 Flow. Pretty happy with both purchases so far!

I was thinking of upgrading to the AM5 platform with the death of the video card, but my AM4 board is going strong. Instead, I copped an AMD 5700X3D for $199 on Newegg and got a 2x16 GB kit of RAM to upgrade from 2x8 GB. As long as the board doesn't go kapoot, I should be alright for a few more years.

I think it was a good call to stay on AM4 in your case. For gaming with mid-to-high class graphics cards, CPU matters less. And 5700X3D should still be closer to AM5 CPUs more than 3600X so you are still getting a hell of a upgrade. You have a good B450 board too and DDR4 basically still dirt cheap. Honestly, value we got on AM4 platform is nothing like any other.
Sad to hear that you retired the Meshify C. For some reason I really liked that case but looks like the future is fish tanks! :p

Bought an Ultegra R8000 groupset for the backup bike which I'll probably give to my dad in a few months. Total of £500, bit cheaper than the £955 RRP, and I have a better chain/BB. The Cannondale (one of the last R series hand made in the USA rather than Asia) currently has a mix of Tiagra and Ultegra 3*10 speed, so 2*11 will be a nice upgrade.

DA R9100 chain and BB.

New R8000 Crankset and Cassette

Used good condition STI shifters, front + rear derailleurs.

Already have an Ultegra 6800 set of brake calipers.

Will be interesting to see how it differs from my main bike (2006 Opera Palladio) which has full R9100 Dura Ace I bought new in 2020, along with C24 9100 wheels and an R8000 cassette. That bike has had 9600 kilometres ridden and pretty much no issues besides the usual chain and pad wear.

I liked the Meshify as well. Great airflow for a small-ish ATX case.

AM4 is a legendary platform, and I'm glad I can continue the run for just a little while longer. My upgrade path was 1600X > 3600X > 5700X3D. What was yours?

That's a nice upgrade for the backup! The R8000 shifts great, you won't be disappointed.

Found a good deal on a 3T Superleggera high modulus carbon handlebar (170g) and 130 mm stem pair (140g).

Should save about 200 g from the cockpit just from the handlebar swap, and I've snagged these for around 1/5 RRP.

A lighter cockpit feels better for twitchy adjustments when manouvering, while still being stable since 44 cm, not a compact 38 or 40.

Somebody bet me these no longer have issues after the recent thread about dual CCD Vcache Cpu's...... So far it has still been a SS but a bit better than when it launched.

Not sure what I am going to do with the 7800X3D but if I can find at least 4 games that behave badly with the 7950X3D It's free so root me on lol....

A couple more additions to my addiction.
An Asus Tuf Gaming X570 Wi-Fi and a portable Monitor used for testing.
I bought the Motherboard as not working, but it seems to function, although initially it took ages to get past the Dram light.

The DRAM should in the 2nd slot from the CPU. You have it in the 3rd. That is probably why it took so long to post.

Looks like the 4th slot to me. Which I believe is reccomeneded on that board.
