ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 Astral OC

I want to criticize the price tag, because it's completely stupid and unjustifiable from a customer's perspective, but ASUS know their market - these will probably be among the highest demand SKUs and be unobtainable for a long time.

I just hope some third party MSRP models are available.

I think the chances of that are slim to none. We might see some at $2200-2300, but prices will equalize upwards after the first few weeks if 4090 price history is anything to go by. I’m expecting around $2500-$2600 being normal for the cheapest cards after initial sales.

Huh? A) the Matrix is their “halo” product B) You can get a water cooled Supreme for $300 less. Justifying nonsensical stuff again, it’s a 40% markup for close to nothing.
Is it a 5090?

Then yes.

It's just a really fast GPU IMO.
People put together all kinds of theme builds, and not all cards would work for it.. you pay for a look I guess.

Nvidia in the past has mandated AIB partners to have MSRP cards for launch, so there will likely be those available for the lucky few who win the F5 lottery on newegg.

If rumors about horrible availability are true, I expect the 5090 to only be available at $3k+ scalper pricing for most of the year. ASUS could have probably charged $3500 for this card and it still would have sold out instantly.

From ASUS that will (probably) be the PRIME, MSI has the Ventus, etc etc.

I believe even those will be scalped, though.

The price is too high.

Disapointing that the levels of coilwhine isn't mentioned - it has been the biggest issue with asus gpu's for ages, especially the 4090 - both 4090 strix and tuf were by far the gpu's with the most coilwhine that i have tested.

$800 of rogtax
man asus' really losing their minds
EDIT: and its hotter than the suprim too. yikes.

I am impressed by the watercooled one from MSi, I am sure you can get it to clock 3Ghz with a bit of tinkering. :D

Incredible performance for a $2800 card and DLSS4 on it...

for comparison, you can get this one for that price before tax in my country

My prediction of the GPU market three months from now is that cards will only be realistically available from scalpers, and the avg. pricing structure will be something like:
$1300 RTX 4080
$1700 RTX 5080
$2200 RTX 4090
$3500 RTX 5090

Only way we avoid some horror scenario like that is if AMD is both competitive with the RTX 4080/5080 and can supply in good volume.

Yep, these AIB's have lost the plot, I see no reason here for such a massive price premium. nGreedias solution is way better on an engineering level and cost way less. Now I know they have make a money, but not this much, it's ludicrous.

I wish I could get my hands on a RTX5080 FE here in South-Africa. <3

quad fans? am I missing something....?

*flips card over*

o0o0o0o0o0o....ok lolz
Well, it just shows you, more fans doesn't = better. In fact, It's one of the reasons the card is more loud than competitors.

My response is: wish in one hand, poop in another... see which one gets full first.
yeah-no-nope.gif
The problem is there are way too many sheeple that will pay the extra $800 A$$zeus fanboy tax as though it was normal and OK. They wouldn't be raping people with asinine prices if they didn't voluntarily drop their drawers and embrace the rip-off.

Good grief, there was some serious drinking going on when pricing this card... Nothing about this screams to me as a reason to buy this over an FE. I mean at least the MSI Supreme X is a liquid cooled version but even it is cheaper than this...

nGreedia's design is extremely efficient and elegant, I will give them that, oh yes. Board partners will have to step up their game.
