The ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 TUF comes at a $450 price increase over the NVIDIA MSRP, and that's not even the OC model. You get excellent build quality, great looks, and some unexpected extra performance. Thanks to the dual BIOS you have a choice between great temperatures and a quiet gaming experience.

Why is the 9070 XT consistently 4-5% slower than in the launch review, while the 7900XTX and 5070 ti are not?

Have you retested with an AMD reference model?

I expect dp 2.1a on a graphic card in 2025

The cooler fan shroud is not to my liking. I had too many issues with notebooks with similar screw structures.

Thanks for the teardowns.

sorry but $450 for a fancy looking cooler? this is what we're accepting now? had they slapped this cooler onto a 5080 it'd been roughly $1250, adding on a percentage at 2k is just awful and not worth supporting over the reference model

Can you imagine that, $4000 to play Stalker 2 at 85fps in 4K. What is it? Bad game engine? Stagnation of hardware performance? Both probably..
Just imagine you are running DLSS5 and enjoy x5 FPS in your mind :)

I guess Moor Law is dead. Transistors cannot be shrunk any more past the 4nm mark. Nvidia had to resort to DLSS upscaling gimmick while still wanting to charge 3X more price for their AI marketing.

Shouldn't the dangerous power connector be listed among the cons?

Where do they get off charging $450 just for their board and cooler. Like it's decent and all, but man this TUF should be MSRP with the apparent lack of a Prime model for the 5090.

Also interesting differences with the 9070XT as pointed out, the OC/premium models reviewed at launch were a healthy little boost for it relative to a reference spec model.

Any plans on replacing RE4 Benchmark with Monster Hunter Wilds, or at least Dragon's Dogma 2? :D. Thank you again for a great review!

Compared to astral everything looks like a toy now.

Dragon's Dogma 2 would probably be the better idea since it's "complete" in terms of patches (I think) and Wilds needs a LOT more work.

…that’s really not a great cooler for paying 450 over MSRP (lol). I know Asus have a premium they like to ask, but this ain’t it in terms of actual cooling performance.

Yeah RE4 will be replaced by MHW next round of retesting. No plans for Dragon's Dogma 2

They use the same cooler on their AMD GPU's too, yet there they only charge $150 over MSRP for the AMD card, and a whopping extra $300 on the nGreedia side.

I am sure there are "reasons"

Eventually in life, you will reach a point where you can filter through the bs instantly, there is no going back. :nutkick:

Thank you to this enthusiastic fan. Despite sacrificing the official warranty, they lent the product for testing. These are the first PCB disassembly pictures of the TUF 5090 on the entire Internet. I've been waiting for this for a long time. This is also the graphics card that I care about the most. I think the materials used in the PCB are not as good as those of Gigabyte's Gaming OC. Moreover, it is more expensive than the Gaming OC. Its advantages lie in the 5-out-of-4 video output options and excellent heat dissipation. The drawback is that it is too costly.

Also, isn't gameplay the most important thing? Rather than graphics? Are games fun at 1080p, with medium settings? Absolutely, as long as the game is good.
QFT.

1080p with medium settings for all but texture quality is usually 90% of the way there. If you have the graphics horsepower to run at higher settings then it's a nice luxury but it won't do anything to the gameplay loop or change the game mechanics.

+1 to the anonymous donor.
Asus warranties are a scam anyway, so no real loss there ;)
