NZXT N9 X870E

Sooo its just the Asrock Nova with less expansion and cost 150$ more, cool.

I hate how the AMD version doesn’t have the same RGB as the Intel variant.
you can say that about a lot of board manufactures, even today seems like brands still prioritize intel.

Which doesn’t make sense since AMD is wildly more popular now a days. Maybe it’s because Intel users upgrade boards more often because of new sockets constantly.
Yeah, AMD is currently outselling Intel by more than double. That could be the reason, or maybe it's just that some manufacturers are more accustomed to supporting Intel platforms. I’ve heard people say Intel handles extreme overclocking better than AMD — I haven’t tested that myself, so I can’t say for sure. But if it’s true, it would explain why motherboard makers reserve their top-tier features for Intel boards. When I was looking at the X870E Taichi, I noticed Intel had a Taichi OC Edition that looked awesome — but there was no AMD version, which was kind of a letdown.

Thanks for the review Combatus! I've been considering NZXT for my next build and this review is very helpful.

I guess $150 more is for NZXT to not burn out your 9800X3D like Nova.

Networking: 1x Realtek RTL8126 5 Gbps Ethernet
Wifi is missing in Networking section --> PAge 2 box shows wifi 7 and connectors

In my point of view rear connectors to mention the 5gbs ethernet is a duplicate. It is already mention in network block. Or leave the newtworking option out and name everything on the rear connection section.
HDMI is also a duplicate on the rear connection section, as it is already mention on the integrated graphics section.

-- Some NZXT boards are Asrock rebranded mainboards. Note I did not read the text. I only checked a few sections of the review

Active Fans and no DP on a mainboard is for sure something I'll buy in future.

Intel's memory controller is still better but it kind of needs it with it's chiplet CPUs just to match it's own last gen parts.

I'm surprised this board's NVMe temps aren't better. Heatsinks are finned and with good coverage. Must not be thick enough and likely the metal covers on the M.2s and chipset don't contact each other enough to transfer the energy. Board manufacturers need to step up if people are going to be using more power hungry PCIe 5.0 drives and they want to continue putting them under the GPU. You can't use your own heatsink under there so the provided heatsink has to be good.

So an extra expensive ASRock X870E but with less frequent firmware that only gets updated when NZXT deem enough changes have been made to modify the Asrock packages?

Ever since learning NZXT boards were modified just Asrock boards, I've questioned why anyone would want to pay extra to get an NZXT variant unless it was really about the aesthetics of single-brand fanboyism.

That 2200A VRM is absolutely necessary for the 250A (while extreme OCed) monster that the 9950X is (like 90% of its buyers won't use a sub 120A 9800X3D)!
Everything in premium motherboards just looks like a tumor for chronic consoomerists

Not enough PCIe slots. The bottom slot is also worthless not enough space

The NZXT CAM software it's also worthless, why on earth would I run Windows on my computer. So basically the fans are just impossible to control. Lol

I do too. It really sets the N9 Z890 apart - review coming soon.

Sorry I'd listed the WiFi in the networking section but a stray bit of code prevented it appearing. My bad - fixed now. Will consider the other comments!

That is changing - the refresh boards announced at Computex by the likes of Gigabyte do prioritise AMD or at the very least have an equal footing. NZXT is just late to the party here with these being its first gen LGA1851 and 800-series AMD boards. Second gen/refresh is seems to be reflecting sales to a great extent.

I like the clean look of this board but damn this is some poor expansion for x870e. 2 PCIe slots and only 1 with PCIe 5.0 16x/8x? Four M.2 slots and only one capable of 5.0x4? It feels like this layout is missing 4x PCIe lanes somewhere - almost like there should be another 16x slot running at 5.0x4 and sharing bandwidth with another M.2 (5.0x4). As it is, a very mediocre layout for the price.

One brand id never buy again no matter how good it is.

they fixed that issue, and honored warranties on all of it. I personally like ASRock, accidents happen to all of these companies.

Why are OC's no longer being done?

I mean with such a extensive VRM design (22x 100A) you should at least try something rather then sticking with stock AMD settings?

There is no reason for that second pci-ex slot not to be connected to the cpu. x8x8 is mandatory on a high end mobos.

Says who? Asrock?
