Hey all!

This is my first thematic build!

This build based on the Asus x Miku collab is just 1 of a handful of collabs Asus has done with various IPs not including there own mascot.

Gundam: https://www.asus.com/microsite/ASUS-X-GUNDAM/my/

Evangelion: https://rog.asus.com/microsite/ROGxEVANGELION/

COD: https://rog.asus.com/articles/gamin...ition-call-of-duty-branded-hardware-from-rog/

Demon Slayer: https://www.asus.com/us/site/Demon-Slayer/

etc etc you get the idea.

Personally; I don't really keep up with them. They rarely leave greater Asia, I simply don't want the equipment, I may not even like the collab. Really these come and go and I don't really notice. So what drove me to this? Why this collab? Well like all of the other collabs, I know who and what Miku is; so I have a familiarity. What really sparked it though, was the recent GPU generations, specifically the flack generated by these collabs and other brands operating outside of NORAM.

You see while a lot of these fly under my radar, it has admittedly been years since I found a lot of enjoyment with PCs. The one exception probably being the work I do for the community in regard to the Intel GPUs.

There are many many reason, but one reason is stylistic. The curves and edges on some things do look beautiful and as a minimalist I often appreciate SFF builds and nice elegant white chassis. However, that does not make me immune to the obvious.

White case
Black case

White case red fan
White case blue fan
White case purple fan

Black case red fan
Black case blue fan
Black case blacked out machine

On top of imo the era of case badges being over with many manufacturers no longer even including them, the landscape of PC visuals physically has kind of stagnated. As a hobby I kind of don't like this, and probably get more excited about CES case designs then actual video cards.

Thats when the problems start though. Here are a few examples of our very members upset about "Waifu GPUs"

They certainly arent for everyone, and certainly arent even really for me. But I do see beauty in them, and I certainly appreciate the stylistic choices of some of the art and more so the actual PHYSICAL changes to the cards to accommodate these themes. Take the Sakura Atlantis 9070XT. The white shroud on this card is modeled into a sea theme. These manufacturing process changes are not cheap, and while these cards certainly sell at a premium to make up for this loss still, someone sat there and drew it, then modeled it, then milled the injection mold plate.

I think the lengths these few hanger on companies go to to cater to this user base is admirable and imo something I feel the industry has lost. I personally feel we should encourage the effort even if it’s something I wouldn’t normally get.

So as my posts have mentioned if you caught them in your scrolls. Why did I do this?

I like it, I have the money and I know its going to piss you off.

So I imported all of the parts from overseas.

The mobo itself a B850 WIFI S for which the US equivalent to the best of my research is the https://www.asus.com/us/motherboard...owledge?model2Name=TUF-GAMING-B850M-PLUS-WIFI is less theme-y then others that have existed, but they do a good job matching the color way. This livery follows you literally (video below) but also to the back of the board with a simple silk screen. The board is colored front and back (silver and white) to represent the color ways of Miku and Tianxuan Ji. The IO shield also gets the spot treatment.

Its not the highest end but seems well made physically given its a theme board, though I should note that the back of the board DOES have smd components. Which is a shame imo.

It comes with a theme correct white antenna for the wifi, a few sata cables and M.2 screws and rubber pads (for between board and nvme.)

Even the sticker on the socket protector is metallic and carries the thematic colors.

What you see is what you get. The paint is beautiful even though the plastic is still on it in the box photos. The most impressive aspect is how vivid the paint actually is, its some kind of enamel based paint it seems which is nice since that should prolong it.

The rear of the GPU has a diffuser that displays Mikus signature teal-ish color when powered on.

You haven't scrolled down enough yet, but if you thought you are getting a wall poster with each device, well you would be wrong. You don't get one with the mouse.....

When I started my Intel GPU adventures I actually used a 5800X3D as my test machine. That machine was built back up and given to someone in need after I was done my work with Alchemist. My current work bench is a supermicro x13 with an emerald rapids CPU doing ML work.

With my Latte Panda and eGPU enclosure currently busy also doing something else I decided if I was going to go all the way with a theme build using AM5 I might as well go all the way with an AM5 CPU (so I could actually do work on it).

The 9950X3D needs no introduction.

The AM5 bracket in silver though? Stylistic choice of course.

The cooler a https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/cooling/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-lc-iii-360-argb-lcd/ gets the same treatment as what we have seen so far. Happily they are very consistent from the packaging to the device. In this case the cooler box slides out of the sleeve and opens from the center to reveal the 360mm AIO.

Along with the wall poster and sticker pack, the box includes mounting hardware, and install literature. A fun addition I found were the intro pages with Tianxuan Ji drawn and fully colored and the rear "note" pages having Tianxuan Ji in two versions on every page.

It should be noted the fans are monolithic, and while the holes do appear to lineup to allow replacement, the Miku edition fans are 1 360mm unit and not 3 individual fans.

Another device that got forgotten with this collab was the ram. However! Not all hope was lost. To try and keep the theme going I capitalized on Asus' collaboration with Fubuki.

The ram itself is also gorgeous and the colors here are no exception. Covered in the same almost enamel type paint the ram has a soft matte finish but very vivid and sharp coloration. The ram box itself slides out of the outer sleeve and opens from the right like a book after tugging a magnetic flap.

The ram includes a plastic semi transparent card with the concept art printed on. As a nice bonus the speed and config stickers as well as the serial identifier stickers are left on a peelable paper allowing you to run the ram without them.

Lifting the center loop the ram and its foam carrier lift up to reveal a bottle opener and a pair of striped white gloves.

This is a 32GB kit (2x16gb) for which I bought 2 sets for a total of 64GB. The speed of these particular "Bragi" kits is 6800mhz DDR5.

The Asus x miku collab unfortunately drew the line at PSUs, Storage and ram. With that in mind I primarily use Klevv M.2s for my test builds. The color way matches most of the things I put them in, assuming you can even see it, and otherwise have nice thermals, performance, and I can get test sizes (1-2tb) pretty cheap any time I look. As an added bonus, they die a lot less frequently then my crucial P3's so I use the Klevvs exclusively in all 3 of my test benches now.

The mouse, comes in a simple j-hook box and like the others includes a sticker pack and literature. The mouse itself comes in a thin cloth bag and includes a white usb-c cable. Additionally the mouse comes with two paddle grips for the mouse itself produced by 3M. The Miku Silhouette lights up her signature teal-ish color and the small USB adapter is the same.

The Miku headsets international edition appears to be a https://www.asus.com/us/accessories/headsets-and-audio/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-h1-gen-ii/ . Like the others it has a strong white/silver appearance with teal highlights. The headset itself does not come in any kind of formed enclosure, instead being wrapped in the same kind of white cloth as the mouse. The cans feature a silhouette of "TX" and Miku on separate sides. As this is a bigger box we get another wall poster and the sticker pack with the rest of the literature.

The Miku keyboards international edition seems to be the https://www.asus.com/us/accessories/keyboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-k3-gen-ii/ . It features Raesha blue optical switches and comes with two additional themed key caps. The entire keyboard follows the same theme predominantly white and silver with strong teal accents. Like some of the other devices the keyboard can represent Miku or Tianxuan Ji by way of removing the teal outer snap cover to reveal a white silver theme underneath and giving the keyboard a raised switch appearance.

The quality of the keyboard seems fine and has an inner silicone gasket. It does not however have a removable cable, which is unfortunate.

The BIOS sports the same colorway as the devices, namely teal and silver. The background also comprises of Miku and Tianxuan Ji with piano keys and notes sprinkled throughout the bios. After walking through the bios options I found no way to manage or otherwise change the background image.

The BIOS supports screenshots, so below are the main page and the main pages under F7 (Advanced).

I gotta a soft spot for themed builds! Can't wait for the finished machine!

At first I wasn't on board, but when I saw all the purchased parts....I was like we are going all in :D

Can't wait for the result, really got my wife interested in new PC and want to use yours as reference ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

That's so cool

Thanks!

Delays happened, and the case and second kit of ram wont be coming until early next week between mon-wed. Thats unfortunate as I initially expected it by this weekend, but for 7600 miles I GUESS I can give them a pass this time.

Looks good man!

Thanks! I may bother you and @tabascosauz regarding AMD and PBO since I havent overclocked AMD in ages, all my servers and test benches run at stock clocks.

With that said, I am very excited to measure the individual parts performance and excited to see what a "themed" build like this (manufacturer backed) can pull in benchmarks.

I have every intention of beating the shit out of this when I get it with all of the branded parts present.

Attaboy :)

Not gonna lie though.. its a bit pretty for daily beatings, no? As for PBO.. hell yeah man.. well get you to 95c in no time.. but it will be pushing hard :)

Edit:

I let mine run WCG for a week, and it happily sat at 235-240w while doing 5400MHz and change..
