What's your latest tech purchase?

I have the 34 inch G8 and really like if lol.

You Can Do It Cheering GIF
I already have the first G9, but as my eyes get old figured I could use the extra size. That said, I don't really need it, just want... so I let it pass. But apparently the price is not from Amazon but direct discount from Samsung, 700 off till the 20th. Freaking Amazon playing games and misleading ppl thinking it was ending in hours.

Can't go wrong with these. Is that a 26"-er? ;)

the one with the "godfather" look seems to be the customers favorite :D

1. I finally got my hands on a Seiko SSH137J1. I've been hunting it since it's launch was only a rumour, to me it's the best looking watch ever made but i'm biased towards Black/Red stuff.
Also: after wearing the Mudmaster for so long this feels like someone else's wrist and hand, it's so light that i panic for a split second, feels like i have no watch on my wrist.

2. Got the JBL 910 Wireless, the lift to mute system on the EPOS Hybrid went to shit and it crackles and pops everytime i lift to mute, fuck that.
I wonder how long the lift to mute system on the 910 will last.
Also: the circle is complete now, headset, mic, and two sets of speakers, all JBL.
Nice Seiko but you should also look into Citizen and Casio watches

I remember contacting Samsung support if they could give me an extra discount and they gave 100 off on my G8 lol it was like a month before black Friday. I think I paid like 799 for it almost two years ago.

I got to see the 57 inch G9 mini led in person and it's super impressive but very heavy on the GPU even with DLSS. I was pretty tempted to get the 49 inch Oled version but prefer dual monitor so got a 34 inch and a 27 inch instead.

I'll take that seiko, thank you .... GORGEOUS

Just got the Oculus Rift cable for my Quest 2 and the USB-C port for my Fractal Pop Air case. I've only tested it out in the SteamVR home room, but it's a massive improvement over the 5G WiFi connection I was using earlier. Can't wait to dive back into the Project Wingman VR mode, and I think I'll pick up the AC7 VR DLC as well.

No, this time, I don't actually consider this purchase to have been a mistake. For now, anyways.

In any case, I bought myself a new SSD because I needed more storage for my ROG Zephyrus G14 (yes, I'm miraculously still using that and haven't dumped it - yet), and could make use of faster read/write speeds. My laptop's preincluded SSD "only" gets around 5k IOPS reads and 3.5k IOPS writes, and its performance drops off a cliff when I'm installing large game updates or otherwise undertaking a large disk-writing task, due to the lack of DRAM. So not only is having double the storage more convenient, but so is having faster storage in general.

If it sounds like I'm trying to posthumously justify this purchase to myself, that's because I am.

But I seriously did need more storage for futureproofing's sake, so... yeah.

my monitor stand became slightly loose so bought a vesa mount, build quality feels solid. Preferably wanted a normal stand but they were a bit expensive.

Remember to disable the 3.3V lines on the power connector...

I thought I might have to do this so i prepped one but I tested the non prepped first and it just worked right out of the box. Im using these in a 2 bay QNAP NAS. Finished the first rebuild and now just doing the second one. I will eventually upgrade to a 4 bay to make things less of a headache.

Wait, what? Could you explain this, to this uninformed one?

According to the internet. its actually an Enterprise Feature - The 3.3v pin is used as a signal to spin up multiple Disks one after the other instead of all simultaneously. This way you can use way smaller PSUs in a Server and/or drive enclosure. Plugging it in to a regular desktop means it might not be detected because the power cable is still providing 3.3v which I assume pseudo locks it out from starting up correctly.

Once you tape it off and there is no more current running through it. Then the drive can function as normal and be detected on your PC.

This video focuses more on the solution but not really on its cause but does cover a small bit of it.

Upgrade for the lady.

Impressed by the size/weight of the Anker PB, plus has 15 W wireless charging and a nice alu build, works to improve grip on the phone too since it protrudes slightly.

Had good experiences with Anker edit: Rhinoshield CrashGuard bumper cases with my old S10+, light cases that protect the phone, leave the back free for magsafe stuff without incorporating extra weight from an extra set of magnets in the case. Her iP13 has around 80% of it's original battery cap, so ~2500 mAH, or more like 2200 mAH considering 90% charge cap. This will more than double her battery life without needing to carry a cable, and can be snapped on/off as convenient. the TG is a little expensive at more than the case, but that's not the end of the world. Since it's designed for iPhone, you can set the battery point where it starts charging via the magbank in software, something like 30%, avoiding keeping it topped up at 90% all day.

Eventually she's gonna get a Galaxy Flip as a personal phone and use the iP as a work/specific apps phone, to keep the data separate and private, but for now this will suffice.

Screenshots look weird because the snipping tool accounts for the HDR of the OLED.

FreedomEclipse made good points, but there is also the situation with some WD drives from enclosures where if a 3.3V signal is present the drive will stay in sleep mode and doesn't spin up. Disabling the 3.3V lines bypasses that function and the drive spins up no matter what. Using a molex to sata power adapter cable makes that easy-breezy. I speak from experience on this one.

I done this with my White label WD Red 10TB drive I have it's still running hard older than my Seagate Exos 16TB...

It's just sad that WD's drives are more expensive than Seagate Exos and have less warranty.

I can get Exos X18 16TB drives from £258 when they are legit and not white labels that online sellers are selling. I can get non-white label drives through sellers at my work for about £348.

But rather than using about £350 than I can buy a WD Ultrastar DC HC550 16TB for about £300, but I still feel it's too much but I also know that WD's RMA process is just so much smoother and faster than Seagate which last time took me about 6months to get my Exos drive replaced :kookoo:

Got a PSU coming tomorrow. It is going to be scandalous :D, to make it fun before the pictures. Can you guess what rating it is in advance? :P

1600 W or 2500 W.

For it to be scandalous it is either one of those multi-kilowatt units or a Gigabomb-like PSU

It's a "1200 W" gamemax D rated unit that he's about to plug in two 5090s to!

My cover has been blown :) ..gigabomb it is :D. Can't hold the tension: bronze league chaps.

@dgianstefani . Also thank you for not scolding me on going too off topic with this.

I'm not one to scold about going off topic lmao.

9070XT Mercury, non OC. I wasn't planning on overclocking it anyways, and even without the vapor chamber it should still be a very good cooler. It was one of the cheaper options available to me anyways, so between gigabyte and this, I take this.

I also know that this shot is not glamurous, at all, but I didn't take a better shot before putting it in the case, pardon the dust!

Finally bit the bullet for new GPU after thinking about it for almost 3 years + a new monitor. GPU was almost at EUR MSRP - 689 vs 715 - which was the main reason.

XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070XT Triple Fan Gaming Edition (the name could not possibly be longer...)
AOC Q27G3XMN

My 1070 Ti had served me very well for 6 years, but it had to go. Monitor was 11 years old XL2411Z.
