The intel tick tock strategy appears to be working wonders, it seems amd really did awaken the sleeping giant.

Its been awaken for awhile amd needs a serious waking big time.

may be they will share their income with AMD since Intel is doing so well
or anti-trust lawsuit will result in that

Well it might make things abit more interesting wachin amd at the moment is like wachin a donkey in a horse race.

This is good news as a sizable chuck of the tech portion of my mutual funds are invested in Intel.

As far as AMD goes, they need to lock the doors, turn off the lights, take the phones off the hook so they are not interrupted and come up with something so innovative that it will shake the foundation of CPUs as we know them. They should sell ATI outright so both companies can take seperate paths uninhibited by the other.

Then once they on the throne again, they should stop with the "permutation" attitude of just trying to pump up the line a little, and make each new processor a truely "next generation" leap.

Okay, so maybe I am a bit idealistic :D

i still think ATI purchase has its benefits, I'm not saying it was worth buying, but it has its benefits that AMD might exploit

:( I'm going to start building AMD systems for friends/family from now on. They wont ever notice the difference anyways. (especially my grandma :D)

It will come out cheaper anyways :toast:

^ Find me an AMD "budget" processor that will match a Core 2 Duo e2160 (£44) @ 3.2ghz ??

oh kno he didnt? oh yes he did. call the bluff.

and you know what is the worst thing about the amd supporters ... they are making it seem as if AMD wants to sell these things for cheap ... if the C2D never drop you'd all still be paying 269 dollars for a 5200 X2

Vice versa on the prices, homie. Recall the days before Athlon 64?

And no one was talking about O/Cing for a grandpa (not that it's hard, all too easy these days for moderate O/C).

im not saying no re: prices but amd fans are always quick to point out pricing ... but thats not by choice ...

Too hard... as in to match the above mensioned processor?? I think it would take a pretty expensive AMD cpu and one hell of an overclock to beat a 3.2ghz C2D. Definatly not in the <£50 range.

AMD are getting :nutkick: in both high-end and budget market segments performance wise.

and you were crying yourself to sleep the whole time pentium 4 was out.

It's funny to see who's the bandwagon hopper as time goes by.
Either you claimed not to care back then when intel got the shit stomped out of them or you're a trendy bitch. It's one or the other.

This is so not surpising news :D

NOT hard, as in it's easy to O/C in general

Wow, that one mighty tall can of whoop from Nvidia...

Who says everyone needs 3.2GHz of C2D power? Hell I never used everything my 5200+ had to offer yet except when I was folding.

And yes, if Intel wasn't beating the shit out of AMD right now I bet AMD would be pricing thier processors just as Intel are pricing thiers. Do I think the Q6600 is worth almost $250 retail today? Hell no. Do I think the 5200+ is worth $269 as IRA FBI said? No wai.

Nice job Intel. Recession my a**!

im not trying to start a flame war or corporate endorsment war but i dont care who makes it, once its fast and good ... if its damn good ill try to find the money
i owned an athlon in the old days and a64 .. got rid of the 64 and im rocking a c2d .. still have the old athlon ...

i dont have a label on my chest, only money in my pocket, whoever gives me the best $$$ to powah ratio ... in my market segment thats where im going ...

that was the price for that processor like 2 weeks before the c2d came out. im not bashing anyone but i just speak facts.
