Ok so i have a question for all owners of EVGA 8800 GT's. I have overclocked my 8800GT several times and for the first time i monitored my temperatures. At idle it runs around 44-48c, but under load its is between 65-68c. Is it safe to run a 8800 GT at 66ish c.

That was part one and heres part two, I was wondering what your 8800 cards are running at temp wise. If enough people can post temps i could build a chart for a safe operating temperatures of 8800 cards.

Your temps are absolutely fine. i run 46c idle, and mid 50's full load w/ 720/1000 overclock and aftermarket cooling.

I just got this card and it was running idle 45c whit 30% fan speed

then i upped it to 50% and now is idle on 39-40c and i ran 3dmark06 temps never goose above 51c

My Palit has "factory aftermarket" cooling. I hit about 60C under full load, fan 100%, OCed to what's listed in my specs.

My 8800GTX idles at 58c and loads at 80c with fan speed at 80% course the GTXs run quite a bit warmer..

My 8800GT Idles at 56c and loads at 78c. Even at stock clocks.

I use the stock cooler set at 60%. If temperature goes above 85c the fan will go at 90% but it never reached that temperature.

My previous POV 8600GTS used to run at 85c load... :ohwell:

Operating Temp

My POV 8800 GT is running at 64C idle, but seems to have some kind of spack attack at 75-80C and turns off my computer, any idea's how to fix this as it's starting to really P%*$ me off!!!

mines vmodded and that was running F@H on the GPU. passive cooling too... accelero S1 is a winner.

can you show some pictures of your vmod, ive been looking into doing it on my KO. my clocks aren't so stable abovce 740/1025/1950(CMS), you can pm or hit me up on aim or msn.

bios mod. you just edit it with nibitor.

i though it was actual hard modding with resistors and such, lol, is there a thread about this somewhere?

PM me an email address, and i'll send you the neccesary files.

sent it to you

email has been sent. dont change any clocks this first time around just voltages, as its a pain to recover from a bad flash/unstable bios

mine runs ago high 50's on idle and around 65 on load, but its summertime and its hot where i live. I hear these cards were known to run hot by nvidia on load with stock settings and hardware, so i guess 60's is safe for sure.

the cards run very cool (as mine shows) its just that the stock cooler is crap.

Is it dangerous to use your files? How much of an increase in performance does it providE?

its will vary from video card to video card, but remember once you flash your bios, its DEFINATLY voids the warranty, especially if it breaks and you cant flash it back to stock bios.

if you're talking about the mod i have, all it does is increase the GPU voltage from 1.05v to 1.10V. It got me another 50MHz out of my GPU core, and with my cooling the temps didnt even change.

if you want it, PM me an email address. i've included instructions on how to make a bootable USB stick, and included all neccesary files to do the mod.

The only risk is that if you screw up, you'll need to reflash to the original bios - so make sure to save a copy of that, and keep a PCI video card handy for reflashing if you need to.

i have a gigabyte 8800gt , 48c idle and 56 full load , no overclock , my card based on it zalman cooler

My Zotac 8800 GT runs at 54C idle & 75C load. It is factory overclocked though, running at (700,1700,2000).

my 35-40C load is getting more and more impressive... jesus.

you guys need to get accelero S1 coolers and OC the heck out of your cards!

My clock speeds are standard 600MHz core & 900MHz Memory, as I say they are not overclocked at all. Cooling is the standard cooler mounted on the card. My case is served by 2 8cm fans and a 12cm fan on the PSU, I also have a heat exhaust card plugged in below the video card. I have also recently removed my 2 old 8600GT cards and I now have an empty slot in the back of my case, could this cause a problem with internal airflow???

if your going to oc the card, the first thing i suggest is to download riva tuner, and then turn your fan speed up and fix it at 70% or something as such. with a 70% fan speed i was able to stay stable at around 725/1800/1000(CSM). One thing you could look into is the AKIMBO aftermarket cooler evga has, or if you want to push the card i would recommen what mussles has which is the accelero S1
