If you have a 360/ps3 then I'd get the first monitor, HDMI def. looks best and the consoles look insanely better on monitors than even the best hdtv. If not then I'd recommend the third samsung since it has a better viewing angle than the others.

yea i dont have any console games, nor will i have any in the future. my parents wont allow it. and im happy with my PC for gaming.

245BW always get pretty good reviews. It's always a fan favorite.

They are all Tn-Film panels tho, and suffer from poor color reproduction, especially when viewing off the vertical center. Which is an issue with a 24" panel, because when you are close, the top and bottom will appear to have a different color than the center, due to the panel being so large.

Personally, I would save more money, and get a better 24" LCD like this one with an S-PVA panel: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001246

The viewing angles and color reproduction and overall image quality blow Tn-Film panels away. It's worth every penny.

$660 is out of my price range. I am getting $200 for my old monitor so i dont wanna have to spend over $300 extra money. so thats like a max spending of $500.

why would i want to do that? i currently have a nice screen, its the samsung 204B 20". I just want somthing bigger of which i can enjoy movies on more and make my freinds and girls be awed by the size of my monitor. but would like to spend around the price range of the samsung 245bw and the 2443bw. right now im leaning more to the 244bw because it has better contrast, better veiwing angle, less weight, and doesnt have speakers.

Ok just save up a extra $200 and don't sell your current one. Just throwing idea's as ya can normally pick up a 19"+ CRT
for $40 lol.
I'd just save up and get some thing like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001097

Yeah i know the cost is high but maybe it would spare you from upgrading later due to using lower res and would it not be better for when the family gets together for watching films..

Maybe people from TPU have some views on the thought..

no, I want my own personal monitor that i can put on my desk which is 44 inches long by 26 inches wide. my parents can spend their own money on getting a new tv. Ive seen some nice 52" lcd screens at best buy and all for about 1500 and so maybe soon theyll go for that. and if i wanted to watch somthing off my pc on that tv, i can. i have the CM stacker 832 on wheels and my desk is on wheels too. but i would just wheel my computer from my room to the tv room which is on the same level (basement) and plug it in. no need to have a 32" tv in my room. itd be tooo big.

How is that dell monitor better than the samsungs? I saw on dells web site that that monitor new sells for $670. What does it mean to be Ultrasharp compared to regular? I know the Ultrasharps are only from dell, but whats the difference in quality?

The guy on ebay said he would accept a down payment and take it off ebay. He lives within 5 miles of me so ill save 35$ on shipping from Ebay, and Shipping on the samsungs are $20 so with the shipping added to the Samsungs on Newegg the Price is exactly the same ($450). should i go for it?

Make sure it works before taking it of him and the warranty is transferable. If you cannot test it before buying it it not worth the risk. And test it for a good hour at least.

in my personal opinion don't go with benq. i have a 24inch mva benq monitor. it looks nice but there was manufacturing issues. first one i got didnt work. second one has a warped bar on top which is an accessory. The DVI and VGA plugs were missing screws to connect to.

TN panels are cheaper and they have better response times like 8ms BTW. My mva one is 16ms BTW. The nice thing about MVA is viewing angles. with 24inch tns, some of them are darker at the top and lighter at the bottom.

ok my question now is, is the Dell 2407wfp better than the samsung 245bw or 2443bw?

The Dell, by far, is the more superior monitor due to it using an S-PVA panel over a TN. However, keep in mind that you are getting said monitor second-hand and you have no idea if the monitor has any problems that may manifest after you get it.

This is also not including the fact that if the person you are getting it from never got an extended warranty, or the warranty many not even transfer, from when they first got it. When it comes to monitors it's better to be picky than to risk getting something that will die 6 months from when you got it.

Lastly, be sure to read this thread:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1064124&highlight=2407wfp

It goes into a great amount of detail on how to verify if you are getting an actual S-PVA version or if you are getting one of the revisions where they changed to I believe TN panels.

But, if the warranty WILL transfer, you can confirm it is a S-PVA model, and there is at least 1 year left on it you may wish to give it some serious consideration. Just keep in mind to ask LOTS of questions and do not be talked into something that you may regret later.

The Dell, has both PIP and PBP. It's built for the ability to have a DVD play hooked up of some sorts. In the Cnet Review, it shows that it's the best bang for buck.
I'd grab it myself if I wasn't going to be grabbing Acer 24". Like the price and also the fact it has two HDMI with true 1080p.
Or think of this. Samsung Touch of Color. I'm thinking of one of the other myself.

no... causes glare

When there is a light source, yes there is glare. But if you're in a relatively dark area, glossy screens look MUCH better than matte screens (take a look at laptop screens... glossy screens make it impossible to work outdoors but if you're indoors and working on photoshop/gaming, you'll definitely want the glossy).

so if the dell was new it would definatly be a better monitor than the samsungs and all? So if it seems like new i should get it? and if it all works good.

The Dell is a good monitor. Most digital boxes can be used without the Coax cables being used. It give's you more for use with that monitor. A nice addition when you feel that you need a 28" down the road... lol
