Sony WF-1000XM5's Charging Case Info Revealed by Database

I generally love Sony headphones, but the WF-1000XM4 were a big let down in my opinion. Their over ear headphones do an amazing job of noise cancelling. However, the buds don't seem to do an awful lot. Maybe it's harsh to expect in ear headphones to have effective noise cancellation but in...

    4070 Dual NVENC Encoders

Yep, there's only one unfortunately! @W1zzard it might be worth updating the reviews? I want the 2 encoders as I have a lot of AV1 work to do, and the VMAF score of NVENC isn't too far off a fast SVT-AV1 cpu encode now From what I read, you could use one NVENC to encode the game (a single...

    4070 Dual NVENC Encoders

Possibly, but Nvidia's literature says the Nvenc encoders cannot work on the same stream. This could be a limatation that applies to streaming and not apps like handbrake, but I cannot find any clarification anywhere. Maybe @W1zzard could clear this up?

    4070 Dual NVENC Encoders

Hi I'm trying to get a solid answer on this, does the RTX 4070 have dual NVENC encoders? I see that Guru3D states that all 12GB and up ADA cards have dual NVENC, and TPU's reviews of the 4070 also say the cards have dual NVENC. However, some sites are saying that only the 4070ti and above...

AMD Shows Instinct MI300 Exascale APU with 146 Billion Transistors

Relavitely speaking, I don't believe there is much money in a GPU market A 4090 has a die size of 608 mm^2, wheras each chiplet die on a Zen 4 has an area of 70 mm^2. Not to mention all the power delivery circuitry, RAM, PCB and cooling that goes along with producing a GPU. Of course AMD must...

FFmpeg Gets NVENC AV1 Encode Support for a 75-100% Encoding Speed Uplift Over HEVC

I wonder what the quality is like compared to CPU encoding.

Alphacool Announces Carbon (CFRP) 13 and 16mm HardTubes

If you use 5-10% of a high quality antifreeze (I usually use OAT variety) and deionised water, you will get no problem with buildup in the lines. Although I don't use custom WC loops currently (don't really see the point anymore), I have ran machines for 5 years+ without changing coolant...

Crucial to End Ballistix RAM Production and Sales

I have 2 of their 64GB kits in the same PC running @ DDR 3600, CAS 14. To me that is seriously impressive. Only 1.40V too. I don't see how you can possibly say they can't compete with these kits.d

AMD Receives All Regulatory Approvals to Acquire Xilinx

Could be some amazing ryzens in the future with this. I think I read somewhere that the plan was to use part of the chip as fpga to run old/outdated instructions that take a lot of die space. Moar cores!

Toshiba Unveils Path to 30 TB by FY23

It's mad that the prices and availability of high capacity hard drives became really poor when chia cryptocurrency took off, and now that it's as good as dead (nobody is buying HDD to farm chia now) they are still not as low as they were before chia.

Thermalright Intros Macho MAXX, a Meaty Tower-type CPU Cooler

I remember those days :) I was using dangerden/D-Tek waterblocks and thermochill radiators (I miss those!) at the time though, the Q6600 took some force to cool when OC'd.

Thermalright Intros Macho MAXX, a Meaty Tower-type CPU Cooler

Love Thermalright, quality kit. Has a job on its hands matching up to Noctua NH-D15, but I bet it's still a great cooler.

Intel "Bonanza Mine" is a Bitcoin Mining ASIC, Intel Finally Sees Where the Money is

That's the point though, the rest of the POW crowd are shitcoins (i'll exclude XMR in that, but RandomX is a CPU algo), whereas ETH has a massive amount of use. There is nothing to take its place. It's old and started on POW as that's what was done at the time. All of its competetors...

Intel "Bonanza Mine" is a Bitcoin Mining ASIC, Intel Finally Sees Where the Money is

I agree with almost everything you say there, apart from another coin/token taking ETH's place. ETH currently has a 372 billion market cap. The next mineable coin, RVN, has a 0.9 billion market cap. The next most mined coin, ERG, has < 0.2 billion market cap. If (when) all ETH's GPU hashrate...
