sorry, thats not the case, i currently own a x1800xl and a 7800 GT so i think i am qualified to comment here, the 7800 gt beats the x1800 at stock clocks, and with both oc'ed with my 7800 gt at lower clocks it still wins, (about 300 points in 3d mark 05 from memory) im about to do some more...

the tape also to some extent stops the blade slipping, its not just to stop scratches (its pretty useless against a cutting wheel doing MINIMUM 10k RPM anyway ;) ) i just use a dremmel, my holes are dodgy as but they work, im not all about asthetics :) and most of the holes i cut are hidden...

yea the gtx was 995 i didnt buy it, i paid $550 for my gt both Gigabyte cards. the 1800XL i got i paid $650 for, ive seen them as low as $625 but as i got mine 2 days after it was out im not too fussed over $25 edit: anyone know what the x1800s dont work with Aq3?

i got the x1800xl for $650, the 7800 gtx is $995

its only untill i get my chiller running and have -40c alcohol running through the system LOL im not looking forward to insulating everything though :(

i got the XL, probably wont see the xt in Aus for quite some time, i dont know how the stock cooler performs as i ripped it straight off and put my waterblock on it but i can say it looks good with ruby on it :D and looking at the way its designed it should work alright, better than some stock...

dont know, i never had a gtx only a gt, at stock speeds the gt benchmarks higher (about 300 3dmark05points, from memory so not much) but as has been said, this card overclocks insanely well

so far very good, and im glad i got it, just getting everything working benchmarking trying to find stable OC etc, this systems less than 2 weeks old still working on burning in my x2 :laugh:
