    Core2Duo E6300 - Overclocking for newbies

Hmmm... as my daughter use to say, "insteresting!" Burn in mode allows you to up the speed but I don't think that means it will stick once it's done doing it's "burn-in" The memory options would seem to have more to do with actual daily overclocking. However, I only see up to 667 whereas specs...

    Core2Duo E6300 - Overclocking for newbies

If he got a good CPU like I did, the voltage won't be a major factor since supposedly this mobo only goes to 800mhz (400*2) and I can run my e6300 @ 420 easy without upping the voltage.

    Core2Duo E6300 - Overclocking for newbies

Further reading has uncovered this statement which further supports my above assumption; Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel® Desktop Boards based on Intel® 965 Express Chipsets¹. Any other timings or voltages...

    Core2Duo E6300 - Overclocking for newbies

A little research so far has found me this quote: "The D946GZIS is the cheapest of the group, so it would be my most obvious choice. However, upon reviewing the chipset comparison, I notice that the system bus maxes out at 800MHz;" The above quote tells me there is a way to up the FSB...

    Leave headroom anyone?

While my e6300 is stable at 3.3ghz, I run it at 3ghz most of the time. I only use the faster speed when I am doing video work or running benchmarks. I don't think most people run thier GPUs overclocked 24/7 so I don't understand running the CPU/RAM/Northbridge/Etc. overclocked 24/7.

    ScienceMark thread (with score list)

LOL... :slap: I spent an hour last night trying to get this ram to post at higher than 1000mhz using a 2.5 multi but it refuses. I dropped my FSB all the way down to 430, kicked the voltage up to 2.3v and it still refused to post. Funny thing is, I had some Patriot Signature ram that booted...

    Core2Duo E6300 - Overclocking for newbies

Hard Core... welcome from one TPU noob to another. :) Your FSB (Front Side Bus) settings might be under the Chipset menu. I don't recognize the BIOS you are using though. As said, with the stock cooler you can only overclock so much. You should be able to kick it up from 266mhz to 300mhz...

I have my ram cooled too but that just seems like a lot of voltage.

    Right now it's running at 478x2, 956mhz.

    ScienceMark thread (with score list)

I can't imagine being able to go tighter than 4-4-4-12 on the FSB speeds we're running at. :-/ I could try loosening the timings and going 2.5x instead of 2x. That would push the mem to 1192 which I have my doubts about.

Very cool looking I just hope you don't do LAN parties too much. Looks like you'd need a hand truck for it. :D

    Voltage on Allendale

2.4 on memory? Geez I hope you have some real good ram there. I am running Crucial and only push 2.3 through it. Running my e6300 FSB @ 470 and show's no signs of weakness. Have the CPU at 1.34

    ScienceMark thread (with score list)

Woohoo! Pushed the new ram (Crucial) to 4-4-4-12, upped the FSB from 471 to 478 and shut down some services (as was suggested) and hit 1834! I should be in the top 10 now. Man she is SCREAMING for a 6300. Let's see how long she stays stable. Wonder what Mike Lopez is doing different than me...
