IMO if you've already got a 480 that OCs well there's no reason to dump it. My friend's vanilla EVGA does 850 on the core without voltage boosting, and will do 900 with voltage increases.

I've got an odd 6850. It does 945|1150 @ stock voltage but won't do 990 with 1.300 mV. I think I'm just going to stick with 945. The tool works perfectly fine with my 6850 and the official 10.10s.

This is good for a start. There's one hour of MSI's Kombustor stability test on a Sapphire HD 6850 @ 945|1150 default voltage. Peak load was 68C. I used 80% fan speed because I didn't want to get screwed by thermals at like 55mins into the test...
