We replaced the fan assembly from a parts laptop and cleaned up the inside. The one USB port is indeed dead, but the more "important" ports still live on that side. Re-imaged and given back to the user. No way we would trust them with a new/replacement device after this.
The user insisted they absolutely didn't spill anything on the laptop. Until I showed them this picture. Then they said their lunch MAY have leaked in the same bag as the laptop.
I give you the stir fry sauced laptop. I think there was fish in it because it smelled like a dock on a lake when I...
Yeah, this one may be an odd request. First time posting in this section, but I wanted to give it a try. I would like this specific model of phone in working condition to play around with Replicant OS. Please PM me if you have this specific model and are willing to part with it for a reasonable...
After over 1.5 years of retirement from crunching, I got an email from WCG authored by @phill that inspired me to return. Though it does appear that WCG has been dormant for at least a few months post migration and I'm not getting any WU's right now (I hope I have it set up right). Hopefully...
You should start seeing me getting some points again soon, albeit low volume for now. I got around to updating and re-setting up one of my dormant systems last night. I might throw another one into service tonight, but my old dell servers are probably going to stay asleep because of...
Anyone here into speedrunning? I dabble in some Super Mario 64 16 star no lblj (no lobby backwards long jump, a special glitch that would get you past the first Bowser door right away). Here is my latest pb (from yesterday actually). Most of the splits are ugly, but I popped off in the last 3.
It ain't much, but I wanted to get back to doing this in some fashion. I may mess around with resurrecting one or two crunchers in addition over New Year's weekend.
As of a few weeks ago, I am officially on Crunching hiatus :(
I don't want to to strain my barely working central AC unit (some estimates put it at almost as old as me...) in the summer heat.
I have also been dealing with a host of medical issues (went to the ER twice since Thursday) and a...
I know this thread was necro'ed but what about 3d televisions? My parents bought one with special glasses in like 2008. The glasses were used once right at purchase, then put in a drawer to collect dust. There were supposed to be dedicated 3d channels on TV like it was the future. They...
More than half of the client's (the one I have set to do all projects) workload is OpenPandemic WU's. I also have one just set to OP and the work units are far from scarce. Also, we are going to be in a challenge? I might have to adjust some project preferences to cheese up my numbers before...
@Russ64 I feel your pain at the moment. I run F@H on centos7. For some bizarre reason, after doing my normal periodic check on the client, the GPU Slot I set up a few weeks back pulled a Houdini and plain disappeared. Re-added and after the client trying like 8 times to connect to the work...
I do say, this thread got me off my butt and put me into action. I re-did an inactive i7 3770 machine and converted it to Rosetta full time. Joined the team. WCG is great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes ya need to spice things up. Thanks for taking the initiative to organize fellas!
