Sony: We want Bluray to be the HD disc format!
Industry: Maybe not.
Sony: We'll pay you big bucks to go "our way"!
Industry: Well ok, then.
Sony: We're #1 because our format was best!!
Industry: I guess you avoided the embarrassment of Betamax all over again.
Sony: Hold my beer.
Something different. Host is a Z840 2xE-2667v3, with Radeon RX 5700 XT, but rather than passthrough to a VM under qemu+kvm, this is llvmpipe/virgl (that is, I'm sharing the GPU locally with the VM)
Bonus: Video (different run, and in a window, with a window running the VM)
World wide economics is "difficult". Not sure it's easy to say who comes out ahead when things like this are done.
From a pure technology point of view, I just see the "damage".
IMHO, if it (restrictions) does "work" the impact is short lived.
Nothing fancy, just a 16c/32t from before the first TR. Did better than I thought it would.
GPU (RX 5700 XT) 4479
CPU Multi (2xE5-2667v3) 758
CPU Single 48
Don't you wish the Calyos folks weren't scam artists? This tech would be really cool if made by cool people.
Oh well. Sometimes good ideas die because their owners are jerks.
(5 years later) Who's games on anything less than 4K 32" screen. Everyone else is an absolute moron. Idiots. I mean what total crap. 1440p is what my great grandma uses for Microsoft Facebook.
My desktop (several over the years) is Linux has been for 20+ years. I don't game 24x7 like many. But obviously, it is my primary rig.
Currently an HZ840 with a Quadro K5200 using openSUSE LEAP 15.1. Works fine for what I do and the games I play.
5476 this run, Dual E5-2667v3, however, the host of the run is a Windows 10 VM running under Linux KVM.
I've actually scored well into 5500+, just not shown.
Anyway, something different for the chart. I know natively I can do 5900+, but my screenshot doesn't have CPU-Z for that score right...
