There has been a lot of news about Samsung struggling to move silicone, I suspect we will see a lot more AMD and Samsung collaborations in the future, they already worked on a GPU for Samsung. Perhaps some IO or consoles will get fabbed there if it's cheap enough.
AMD at least have finally set hard limits for motherboard auto overclocking after the x3d chips started getting killed by the same overvoltage bs motherboard manufacturers have done to both Intel and AMD, they have done it for decades, MCE, fsb overclocking, etc.
The main difference is that its...
If i had to guess I think this has originally been for digital signage. With Ethernet used to send video rather than HDMI, that's why it had the GPU and all the network controllers, since you need the full capacity of each controller for the video stream to each monitor and a half decent GPU to...
Intel got fined billions in multiple countries, and AMD was almost bankrupt, it was only because they won those cases against intel that were they able to make any progress with sales since intel would cut off "rebates" if a company used a CPU other than Intel. If Nvidia is doing the same thing...
people keep missing the point of the article, its nothing to do with features or anything like that the issue is "afraid to even meet with rival AI chipmakers out of fear that NVIDIA will retaliate by delaying shipments of already ordered GPUs." this is exactly what intel done to AMD with CPUs...
The sole purpose of this CPU is for benchmarks to bump Intel up the CPU performance charts. It will get sent to reviewers, who will benchmark it and add it to their charts, making intel look faster. nvidia used to do this like the special edition 2060 KO that was really a 2070 that Nvidia...
They are for Chinese government, intel and amd or even arm are irrelevant in that market. It just has to be fast enough and manufacturable in China. They even run their own architecture, its not x86 or arm.
The point of this is not for custom chips, it's for targeting large customers that already have wafer allocation as Nvidia is production limited. I suspect the customer logo getting lasered on to the die is about as custom as it will get. nvidia will be making even more out of it as they just...
This is purely to get more wafer allocation by using its customers allocations rather than its own. I doubt there is going to be much of any custom silicone, it's more lightly just to be nvidia chips under a different name.
