Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

It couldn't be anything else. At least I don't think so. I am not a beginner, I've been using linux distros for years. I'm currently running linux-tkg kernel which I compiled myself. Can you elaborate more on how to set those options? Is there any difference for intel and AMD? My "bugs" section...

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

I think I just found out why this deterioration in performance happened. It was a microcode update! Recently there was yet ANOTHER microcode update. In Linux Mint (I don't have windows anymore), I got an update for a package called "intel-microcode". This microcode update changed my UEFI...

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

Alright, thanks. @Assimilator what is so funny about my posts? And how are you consistently finding my threads and putting a "haha" reaction? Have you been given a job to react with "haha" to all of my posts?

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

I know, I hate windows too. I use Mint as my main OS for daily tasks and programming, but have to use windows for cryptomining and gaming (nouveau sucks, and my GPU is old and unsupported on newer linux kernels, the PC with the H510M H has a stupid GT 610). I've heard of coreboot, but very few...

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

Ok, thanks. Are you saying this backdoor can only work on windows? It's an UEFI low-level rootkit, so it can affect any operating system. It can be used to drop ANY executable, and the attacker can use some ELF binary which can be executed on linux and other OSes.

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

Oh sorry, it was a different one. It's a H510M H rev 1.3 I did uninstall that app center crap from windows 11, but I actually need some of the other gigabyte programs like Easytune. App center gets installed automatically if that option is enabled in the BIOS.

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

Gigabyte claims they made it so that the BIOS update files and the executable is checked if it's official or not, before executing it. But I don't think so. I'm still able to flash modded Bioses and stuff through Q-flash. Yes, that article is 2 years old. I'll see if I can find a follow up...

Protection against backdoor in Gigabyte motherboards

I just found this: https://eclypsium.com/blog/supply-chain-risk-from-gigabyte-app-center-backdoor/ I'm concerned about this, because my mobo is on their list. I've already disabled "APP center download and install" in BIOS. Is there something else I can do?

Recommendation for best Debian-based distro with linux kernel 6.8

Except for Ubuntu and Linux mint, can someone recommend me a good linux distro with kernel 6.8? I need this kernel version because a guy made a PPA with unofficial NVIDIA 391 drivers for kernels upto 6.8, and I have only Fermi NVIDIA GPUs. Also here's the reason why I don't like: Ubuntu 24.04: I...

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

Ok I'm sorry, but I got angry because @Assimilator reacted with "Haha" to a couple of my posts in other threads. And in this thread I just wanted to know if this kind of performance is expected from my system, and that's solved. Also I thought you can see where any forum member lives by looking...

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

Is money a joke to you? I wouldn't even have posted this if this was the case. I'm NOT buying anything until 2027. The stuff in my country is 3x more expensive than what you said. Also I too have told multiple times that I NEED a VGA Port. There are adapters, but I'm NOT interested in them. It...

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

Which tab's screenshot should I post? Also I bricked my 730 by flashing VBIOS (and I forgot to take a backup) so I'm currently not using it. I found a VBIOS with the same PCI subsystem ID but it doesn't work well with my card.

VBIOS editing programs for GT 600 and 700 series Fermi GPUs?

I want to increase the clocks in my VBIOS to be able to overclock a bit more and not artifact. I also want to unlock voltage control if possible. I have tried NiBiTor and Fermi BIOS editor but both of them said my GPU is unsupported. Is there any other program (except for hex editors) which I...

Very poor performance with Intel core i5-11600KF with stock 4.9 GHz

Dang, I won't be buying a new GPU in the next 5 years or so, because I already JUST bought a GT 730. No 4K60 for now, I guess, unless I don't care about my insane electricity bills due to the CPU consuming way too much power because of the 5.6 GHz overclock. How do I do that?
