I had experienced the same thing with a 2495x. It was not much faster than my 12700K at Linpack. Single core operations felt generally sluggish.

I heard it has to do with Microsoft wanting some AI NPU in every CPU, which took away room for more on-die cache and a newer iGPU. I might be wrong though, although I can't see how in principle, more room could be dedicated to NPUs without some room being sacrificed.

Is this a Dell Precision or XPS? Just making a wild guess. Those laptops had issues sustaining their CPU power requirements because of terrible VRM/VRM cooling. It was never fixed and a workaround is to disable Turbo Boost. The CPU temperatures are not reflective of the VRM temperatures because...

It was the same before. I checked out of the box. After I disabled my ecores, I got 11% better Linpack scores which is what I need my rig for.

My 12700k on a Asus Prime Matx idles at 46 watts with 5600 Mhz RAM with a Gold PSU. I thought I was doing well but your numbers are better by 10% on your X3D. This is with all the ecores disabled and no OC.

I think this was because it was the best slot-powered card at the time and allowed people with crappy prebuilt boxes with weak PSUs to enjoy some good graphics. I think the DIY PC community is rather a small minority.

Hype and dump investment. We can make a lot of money buying stocks related to AI before the bubble bursts.

I am starting to conjecture that the CPUs are monitored for temperature and feedbacks are made on clocks faster than (any) current-based monitoring system. Otherwise how can a modern CPU that thermal throttles itself be damaged due to power?

Are there any known incidents involving the 12700K? I'm curious if this is limited to Raptors only.
