Thank you, I will try you C states program monday. Actually, the reason I am re-investigating this issue is because I want to purchase an Asus U35JC-XA1, which has a Core i3. Owners have been complaining about CPU whine with it though, which is the ONLY reason I haven't purchased it yet.

I do have this problem on my Dell Inspiron 1520 (Core 2 Duo T7500). Monday, I will experiment with ThrottleStop. As for documentation, I don't know exactly what to look for, but will mere datasheets suffice, like for the Core i3?
