Why should you pay this much money for a GPU to fix it yourself? It's not customer job to fix mistakes done by manufacturer. If said manufacturer isn't able to fix it's then refund is needed and you go to a different one.

Well, I've got an update on my card.
Got info from retailer that a new GPU is sent my way, should probably arrive tomorrow. They have also sent me a serial number and it starts with 2514 so card was made in April.
It's a lot better than scraping off the excess and telling it's fixed so I'm happy...
I'll just update that I still got no update from Gigabyte service, 2 weeks now almost.

First they claimed its only cosmetic which was proven false. Now as I feared they will just reapply it.
I would not change the case. I would stress test it for long, long time to accelerate the eventual spill and then contact them again this time demanding refund.
