Thermalright Ultra 120 Cu Limited Edition up for Grabs Next Month

Copper is a better cooler, heat transfer from the surface of the CPU is determined by conduction, which relates to conductivity. Convection tot he air is completely dependent on the air, not the material from which heat is transfered.

Thermalright Ultra 120 Cu Limited Edition up for Grabs Next Month

The aluminum wire, you know why? because the aluminum wire didn't conduct as much heat to begin with, so it doesn't have as much energy stored inside it. Heat transfer in this context is only dependent on the thermal conductivity. The convection to the air is a function of the air, not the...

Thermalright Ultra 120 Cu Limited Edition up for Grabs Next Month

Actually, it's heat transfer. Thermodynamic properties, but the study is heat transfer. This myth about the metals is amazing.

Preorder for DFI LP JR P45-T2RS (aka P45 Lan Party Jr.)

It's $219 AUD, so I think it's closer to ~$200 USD, but at the same time, it's pre-release pricing. I think I saw an INQ article suggesting $159 as the price.

Point of View GeForce GTX 280 Assassin's Creed Edition

Me too, just about every other review shows different results with DX10 vs DX9. Most reviews don't have the GX2 losing so badly to the 280 either.

AMD Extends Energy-Efficient Processing Leadership with World’s First 65W Processor

Monolithic doesn't have to mean slower, just because K10 isn't a huge leap doesn't mean 4 cores on 1 die is inherently slower. But, like I said, they're not going to NOT put positive spin on it. They'll use technicalities like that. You and I and the rest of the tech forum users know 4 cores...

AMD Extends Energy-Efficient Processing Leadership with World’s First 65W Processor

How else should they market this? It's a low power quad core system for maybe a low power HTPC, or desktop. They can claim this all they want, because technically that Xeon isn't a desktop processor, and it isn't monolithic like the Phenom die, it's 2xC2D. I like the option to buy a cheap...

Take-Two Forms New Release Dates, Announces Bioshock 2 is in the Works

The final cutscene was silly, but that's not a problem, it's just a cutscene. What bothered me was how easy the final boss was.

Dell to Stop Selling AMD Based Computers Online

This is how my entire family was until I educated them. It's incredibly surprising how ignorant people are concerning technology...not just PC's, but even automobiles. As for this whole issue, I don't understand it. AMD is price competitive with intel on the mid-low end, and on top of that...

AMD Quad-Core and Triple-Core Phenom Production Schedule

Considering they have a 1.8ghz HE version of the barcelona chips and they state a "TDP" of 55W, I'm sure those 9150e's will be 65W, what else would they be? 80W? doesn't really make sense if true. I'd like to see how much they could be undervolted....

AMD RS780 is 261% Faster Than AMD 690G in 3DMark06

sounds amazing, what kind of power consumption are we looking at?

AMD Displays Technology Leadership with New AMD Xilleon Panel Processors

AMD is only "expanding" to this because they own Ati. Ati has been making display processors for digital television for a long time.

Amazon Sells 17 Wiis Per Second

so, millions of people who own one, and enjoy it, and think it's good are wrong? Isn't this the same argument people make about the Halo series? Just because it sells doesn't mean it's good? The machine is fun to play, maybe not for hours and hours, but who really has the time for that anyway?

Intel Delays Three 45nm Quad-core CPUs Intentionally

I didn't know you could find the 8800GT for it's MSRP...as far as I knew it was selling for $50-70 over that. While the HD 3870 prices have settled down to ~$10 over at a few retailers.

Intel Delays Three 45nm Quad-core CPUs Intentionally

this makes more sense than "there's no competition". With AMDs price cuts on Phenom, I imagine they'll offer a decent threat, not an enthusiast threat, but a threat still. 45nm is going to make Intel more money, so why would they delay it except to ensure they're not undercutting a large stock...
