Strange GPU Clock in GPU-Z 0.8.5

GPU-Z 0.8.5 is showing a strange value in the GPU Clock text box (which affect the calculated GTexel/s etc.) and randomly switch between the real value and the strange one. I use MSI Afterburner to overclock the card but that shouldn't really affect GPU-Z. A picture says more than a couple of...

    GPU-Z and DirectX 12

My suggestion: DirectX-version / DX Feature Level ex. 12.0 / 11_1 If necessary you could remove the word "Support" in the GUI and add Shader model as a third value OR check which OS is used and if Windows 10 use DX-version and Feature Level and the old format on earlier OS'es.

Did I just get a HD6950 with a revised PCB board?

One way to easily see if the card is the new revision is to check the voltage regulator. The original batch used Volterra (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/Radeon_HD_6950/images/vreg.jpg), near the VRM's.

    RBE v1.27 released!

Wait, you can't use RBE to unlock your 6950 to 6970. :wtf: The only thing you can do with your 6950/6970 as of now is to change VID4 from 1175mV. What you did was change the Device label which doesn't do anything.

AMD Revising Radeon HD 6900 Series PCB

The unlocked/original 6950'ies will go down in history as amazing bargains since most people basically buy 6970'ies for the price of 6950'ies. :D

AMD Posts ATI Catalyst Windows 7 Preview Driver Suite

I suspect the Catalyst Preview for Windows 7 is a very early preview of the new multi-threaded DX11-API aware drivers, hence the fact that the drivers won't work in Vista for DX10/10.1. The standard Catalyst drivers works fine in Windows 7 right now, but the standard drivers are made with DX10...

Pre-beta on Pre-beta have a tendency to mess up quite good. Can't be as bad as the early Longhorn beta when there were no drivers for several months, and once the beta drivers came they had a tendency to bluescreen or refuse to install. I'll try it out tomorrow, too tired to reinstall Win7...

Indeed. We'll most likely see a continued progression of the 64-bit adoption until the day where most corporations have replaced their investments at the end of natural lifetime span of the applications and services. Microsoft would be mad to try to force their most important clients to move to...

I haven't bothered getting in on the whole x86 vs x64 debate, but I figure I might as well throw my 5 cents in the pot. Personally I wish the whole world would move to 64-bit computing since that would mean that all efforts would be limited to 64-bit apps, drivers, hardware, services. But the...

    R870 in two months?

What is really important here isn't the finer details of 256bit/GDDR5 vs 512bit/GDDR3 when it comes to performance (it's more or less negligible), it's the fact that a 512-bit wide bus requires a lot more real estate on the PCB and GPU, making it more difficult and expensive to design and...

    R870 in two months?

You can't make that assumption when you realize a bus at double the speed can handle twice the amount of requests with twice the granularity of the bus. Think of it like this: a bus is nothing but a road. A 512 bit wide bus have 512 lanes while a 256 bit wide bus have 256 lanes. The narrower...

Oh, Win7 can definitely use most if not all drivers that worked on Vista, they haven't changed any of the basic underlying foundations, they're just taking it to the next level, learning from the experiences with Vista.
