OCing Geil Value 2GB Dual Channel?

Just ordered a dual channel kit as shown here. Just curious if anyone has tried it out? Some oldish reviews state they have hit 245 with it, a couple though say they got stuck at 230 even with slow timings. It's replacing a very bad old setup, 1x single sided crucial + 1x dual sided adata...

What RAM works for this motherboard.......

http://www.crucial.com/uk/ do top notch memory, their prices aren't that high due to distributing themselves and they deliver to the UK, very, very fast in past experience. It doesn't seem to list your exact model but P5GD1 or P5GD1-VM will probably work with the same stuff, check the ASUS site...

    Overclocking gets to stock

Sounds like your motherboard's battery has died, does it remember any bios settings? If not try replacing that and it should fix it. Edit: Oh one good test, does your pc remember the time?

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Success! Prime95 ran all last night with the cpu hitting 42 degrees max, warcraft ran for about 5 hours fine, oblivion runs flawlessly, 3dmark, superpi, all good! In the end took it to 267 HTT just to hit 2.4ghz from 1.8 meaning the ram is at 220 (440 ddr) which it seems quite content with...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

What is tccdmemory, I thought I'd pretend to be knowledgable and google it but sadly only 1 person in the world has ever used that phrase before :P The bad timings I don't mind, if I'd lowered the multi to 133 I'd be running at 176 right now anyway so this is probably a better scenario even...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Stuck it on 265 HTT with cas 3 4/4/8 timings, booted up and works beautifully, even under load it only hits about 41. The memory is running at 217 which is a bit scary but it seemed stable. Saying that I have only had 15 mins of testing it, SuperPI'd a few times and ran a bit of warcraft, both...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Hmm, I'll still have to see, unsure whether that vdata stick will accept anything over about 210, it's rated to run at 3/3/7 at ddr400 which isn't a good start! :( 4/4/8 @ 220ish perhaps? If I can hit 220 memory that will be 266 HTT giving me pretty much bang on 2.4ghz cpu speed, that'd do :)...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Yeah, I've been relying on the fact warcraft happily eats all my ram to test it ;) If I can play for a couple of hours it usually stays that way. SuperPI seems fairly useless, I'm not using the SSE3 version and if I've ever got as far as windows SuperPI has been fine.

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Oi! ;) I understood what he meant and it was a valid point! I'm using topped out memory values to try and actually get it running at a 133 multi + a decent HTT, once I've got that stable I'll tweak memory values.

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Due to differing brands and chip numbers (the vdata is double sided, the crucial is not) I'm not using dual channel, I'm just running them as single channel.

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Thanks, sounds like the best strategy, worse case scenario will be instability due to the ram which will force me to buy some more. I sound like a poor student the way I'm clinging on to old bits, I'm actually just very tight with my cash! ;) 285 HTT with 166 would only be 236 which I'm sure...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Yeah, it works fine, tried up to 255 HTT which knocked the memory up to 211 and it ran fine. Given how cheap the ram is though I doubted it's long term stability. Even at that it's running at just shy of 2.3ghz which would only be 100 more than what I'm getting currently with ram running at a...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

I've gone back to 2.2 with better timings on the memory, having the memory that low actually gave me worse 3dmark results, the cpu test results were coming out better on a64s clocked at 1.8 and it thought my fsb was 29 (not really applicable I know but other a64s showed as 200). So close yet so...

Venice 3000+ can't raise the HTT past 245

Still no luck posting using 133, I'm currently on 100 @ 285 giving me ram running at 142. I tried changing the async latency to 8 and didn't ever manage to post, had to reset the cmos. I've tried running a solo memory stick, still no luck, one is a crucial which is rated to have ok timings but...
