    On Gaming Business Practices

The point is that every gaming company is a profit-oriented enterprise. There is never enough money in that context. Creating games is not like creating art, there are clear financial motivations behind it and investors to appease that expect a return on investment. That being said I personally...

Explorer hangs for a second when right clicking empty space

This is done on a weekly basis anyway if you don't intervene, and the last run was 5 days ago. Also, on a crazy fast 960 Pro NVMe SSD that is not very full there shouldn't be any such issues. EDIT: Oh, I've also enabled and disabled write cache to no avail. Hey, it looks like I found it... of...

Explorer hangs for a second when right clicking empty space

Just tried the performance settings - disabled them all to no avail. Besides, this system is quite beastly, so it would kind of surprise me if that is the cause... EDIT: The point is that this only happens if I DON'T click on a file or folder, but into empty space... I should also add that all...

Explorer hangs for a second when right clicking empty space

It's about the Windows explorer. No idea whether the IE does that or not since it's not something I use. As for a timeout - yes, that was my initial idea. Either a context menu entry that has access problems, a problem with accessing the RAM / SSD, or a driver that does not respond quickly. I've...

Explorer hangs for a second when right clicking empty space

Recently, I've bought a Clevo P641 barebone (14”, HM175 Chipset, i7-7700HQ, GTX1050Ti + 2x 8GB DDR4-2400, m.2 512GB 960 Pro, SATA 1TB 950 Evo, AC-7265 WIFI). Whilst the system is very fast I have the strange problem that, whenever I right click empty space in the explorer, the mouse will freeze...

    Intel Core i5-7640X 4.0 GHz

Intel does seem quite desperate to throw anything against Ryzen, huh?

Ataribox Hits Stores Next Spring for Under $300 with AMD Radeon Graphics & Linux

If anything I think it looks really cool. They totally nailed the classic Atari look and even managed to get some wood in there that actually looks great :)

I want to make my ears bleed!

Recently bought an Audioquest Dragonfly Red to go with my Sennheiser IE800. It's not that expensive and the sound quality upgrade is very noticeable - as well as the much higher output that can probably destroy low impedance cans. However, I think it would be overkill for your headset... and, in...

The air in the Forums seems to have shifted?

This exactly. People should be able to abstract the factual from the personal level. Maybe I'm getting old, but, to me, it seems as if this is something that's getting more and more lost. As soon as things slide down to the personal level a discussion is, in effect, dead, because people confuse...

What was the first computer/PC you used?

One of these... Atari ST, pretty sure it was a 1040ST. Didn't do much with it besides clicking around, trying the console and playing classics like Monkey Island and Dungeon Master II. My father also had (and still has) one of those : Found that thing very interesting, but never quite figured...

MSI GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z 11 GB

Actually, this made me wonder, so I looked it up. MSI lists the package at ~3kg, but the card at ~1.7kg, so I think this should have been pounds and not kilograms. For a 3kg card the cooler would probably have to be made of depleted uranium or something :)

AMD Radeon RX 560 vs. GTX 1050

This should not be filed under Reviews. It is irritating, to say the least... clicked, expected a review, got a single page with untested info. Not cool. EDIT: I really like how the result for Resident Evil shows 63 fps, yet AMD saw fit to stop the bar right at 60 fps... can't have a 1050...

Team Group T-Force DARK ROG 3000 MHz DDR4

Haha, oh god... totally missed that. My bad :)

Team Group T-Force DARK ROG 3000 MHz DDR4

Negative: NO LEDs? Wow, and here I thought that people were mostly annoyed by the LED overkill on hardware these days. I certainly wouldn't buy LED RAM, especially since it seems that on most RAMs they can't even be disabled. But hey, as long as they do not count against the review score :)

Do long gaming sessions need special chairs?

I'd argue that gaming chairs just add bucket seat aesthetics to the mix, whether that is actually a good thing is, imo, debatable, since I don't need to be fixed in a chair when there is no lateral acceleration (such as when driving a car). Personally, I think that a good office chair in which...
