More old school hi-jinx: Sadly 4Ghz requires a jump down to 1600 memory and more voltage than I really want to run on the 'ol chip (>1.45v core. 1.30v uncore) and it still wasn't really stable. There's probably a way to do it but I'm no socket AM3 master. Being stuck at the x13.5 mult kinda...

The 1600AF returns with... actual memory timings this time - though ironically it seems slower? --- crosscheck with v22.01 - seems about same

Did I just bricked my MOBO with short circuit ?

tl;dr - probably your motherboard, killed by fubar ground at your buddy's house. Guessing the damage was done while it was running but it was dead man walking. You were still running but if ever powered down it's not gonna start again from cold. - a rambling story, just for fun: So my parent's...

Game suggestions for elderly-disabled (Alzheimer's, Dementia, Stroke)?

This is a just an off the cuff long shot, but Mindustry is a pretty "distilled to the bits you care about" RTS/Defense hybrid that - importantly to this - while it's real-time you can pause at any time and lay out schematics and build orders whatever. It's also "pay what you want" on itch.io...

    Sleeper PC Build

I miss the days of LAN parties, where sleeper PC's were a hilarious thing =D And terrifyingly, right next to the person who managed to cut and grind a dual Athlon MP system into a desktop P75 Packard Bell case, and was actually the host for the Battlefield game everyone was on - was someone...

Can i use this without a heatsink?

edit add: just in case were still debating on if you need a heatsink on nForce2 - yes you do. nForce2 without heatsink is good way to = dead ;p bonus is yours is one of the versions that has the metal "slug" in the package - so ... they wouldn't bother with that if they didn't want the heat to...

Revisting the FX 8310 today, actually figured out it needed more uncore voltage. So now can actually run 2600+ uncore and run at 1866 memory... Put both the old and new pics, might be invalid though cause this is 7zip 24.01 (not 22) not sure if that changes the benchmark? Old bench from before...

    Battery capacity vs lifetime

You might still want 220v or higher if possible, if only since in the US at least (guessing everywhere though?) your rate will be higher pulling the same equivalent draw at lower voltage. Not that electric rates are sane anyway =/

Disabling fast startup resolves my AMD GPU problem

quick and dirty way to turn off hibernation (and also quick startup by association) command window (needs admin rights pretty sure): > powercfg -h off also if you want to double check, you can enter > powercfg.cpl to go straight to the power settings control panel. And yes it's super...

    ASUS A8R-MX/DP Socket 939.

yea a 100w iron should be way more than enough - but it's more important with soldering tools is that it has temperature control or not. for reference way back starting out I used to use the old Radio Shack 15w unregulated pencil soldering iron because that's all I knew. It worked, wasn't great...
