I was initially excited about this...
But it shows a SATA M.2 drive in the render and upon thinking about it - has anyone figured out how to make nvme PCIe devices hot swappable without crashing the system?
So I found some more pics of the that chopped up PCChips board and the case it was in - sleeper PC circa 2006? lol.
I mean, it's technically still an AMD powered NEC pre-built right? :D
I'll spoiler so not to keep going off topic cause this thread is for RyzenMaster's specific sleeper, but hey...
fab51... there's a memory I haven't had in awhile =)
I still have this motherboard - i should see if it still works lol. Also ECS/PCChips had some fun (and cheap!) boards if you were handy with an iron :D
I'm guessing they want to do this for "official" Windows 11 support. I'm also making the assumption (and you know what they say about assumptions) that they're sticking with this card maybe for multi-monitor support vs. integrated, even though finding a used but newer UEFI supporting card, or...
EDIT ADD: Okay so I think I found the stuff I babble about below - this was more geared for HD5000 series cards so - probably not applicable. I'll spoiler what i said originally but probably should do any other option first before going this route... Old Radeon and Geforce GOP update
Another...
Logitech MX310 for me. Of all the mice logitech has "re-released" over the years, it pains me so much they never did a update for the 310. All i occasionally miss on it is wheel tilt.
I grew up using a Microsoft InPort mouse - so claw grip as a youngin lest you really want carpel tunnel at age...
The FX 8310 on the tortured Asus M5A97 R2.0. The VRM's on this mobo smell pretty angry... vCore droops to 1.35'ish (set to 1.525v in bios!). I'm fairly sure 4.7Ghz @ 1.4v would work but the VRM heatsink is already too hot to touch even with a fan on it (yCruncher). I don't want to burn another...
Sadly my Thuban is no more, I put it on a different motherboard to give it an easy retirement but apparently that board had other ideas =(
So the processor still "works" back on the original board I was using but it doesn't hold clocks at all anymore - and not really sure if it works fully...
It can be a real pain in the rear, and sometimes it comes out chop shop anyway but I think it's still worth it =D
"welp, probably not gonna be using firewire anymore..."
Yea kinda still messing with this - don't know why lol.
Don't think I can get much more out of this Thuban 1045T with what I have. Got memory up to 1980'ish with different sticks.
Compression score went up by an entire 2 GIPS...
Decompress stayed same - didn't really change at all.
limit of...
More old school hi-jinx:
Sadly 4Ghz requires a jump down to 1600 memory and more voltage than I really want to run on the 'ol chip (>1.45v core. 1.30v uncore) and it still wasn't really stable. There's probably a way to do it but I'm no socket AM3 master. Being stuck at the x13.5 mult kinda...
tl;dr - probably your motherboard, killed by fubar ground at your buddy's house. Guessing the damage was done while it was running but it was dead man walking. You were still running but if ever powered down it's not gonna start again from cold.
- a rambling story, just for fun:
So my parent's...
