Hi, how are you cooling your HD 4850's VRM? I'm asking because those in my card are running really hot and I want to cool them down a bit. Thanks in advance, Tom.

Other than aftermarket heatsink or full cover water block, seems no way. Why are you bothered with it? If its made like that then it should work under warranty.

Lot's of reasons. The heat from the card increases heat in the case would be my top reason. Someone here refered to their case as a "furnace" while running 4850's in crossfire.

Yes, those VRM modules are heating air in the case quite much. Right now I'm cooling my card with Accelero S1 and 120mm+80mm fans. VRM is cooled with part of stock cooling just like in this photo:

I hope you'll be able to help. I just want to cool them down a bit :).

Well unless you use a cooler which ejects the air from the gpu it will always heat up the air inside the case. Doesn't matter on how well its cooled.

If you're using stock 4850 cooling then there's really no way of reducing the VRM heat, unless you turn down its clocks, crank up its fan and open the side of your case for air. I personally think that the single slot cooling solution should be replaced with an aftermarket cooler if you want to get the most out of your card. There's not really much of a choice if you're not going to invest money into the card.

But if you are, there are quite a few products out there to choose from, ranging from mosfets to ordinary but effective ramsinks with an aftermarket cooler or you could just upgrade your case. For my input, I'd go for an aftermarket cooler since its the cheapest solution.. say about 50 dollars AUD. for a decent cooler like the accelero s1 rev2 plus the turbo module.
