45nm AMD Processors to get Phenom II SKU

"Dragon Platform" Sounds a lot better than Spider.

yeah I agree...it does...BUT I already know Intel is going to call their next platform something like "Dragon Slayer"

Is this a High-K or SOI phenom? If its SOI I'm not going to be expecting much... High-K on the otherhand...? That would be very interesting (4Ghz phenoms pretty easy I reckon).

i hope this is a different arch from their current lineup, otherwise AMD really needs a Kick in the Ass. Because Current Phenom and Brisbane Core CPUs are way too much alike.

SOI. High-K still has a long way to go for AMD's foundry.

ya id say after this launch of the Phenom 2 they may change, but who knows.

there shouldnt be any problems with am3 chips on any current am2+ board, the problem with phenom on am2 was that most board makers used bios modules with to small a capacity to hold the needed changes/updates to support phenom.

Asus used large EEPROM's to on the m2n line and up, so they all where bios upgradeable with a simple flash, problem is that asus bios and driver support for their onboard ADI chipsets is crap, its like they are just trying to piss off people who move from the likes of biostar tseries/tpower boards to asus higher end boards, stuff like non-functioanl TRFC settings really suck when your a geek like me who likes being able to overclock your ram properly.

Biostar ta770/780/790 boards according to biostar will get a bios update to support phenom2 chips, then RebelsHaven will put out a bios mod to unlock any hidden usefull fetures :)

what im getting at is Asus is playing the "Creative Labs Card" and is backing down support of CPUs with their higher end boards, just so they can sell More Higher End Boards that are basically the Same as their Previous but just support the AM3. With that confidence in Asus who knows if their boards will support 45nm Deneb or even the AM3 Variant or what.
Btw I do know that you can Get Flash PROMs/EEPROMs that support a Larger Capacity than the manufacturer aslong as they support the Same Signaling.

yeah, you can also buy mr.bios chips for your board last i checked that can support any current chip and feture you request(as long as the board supports it)

My buddy got one for his old p3 laptop because gateway never put out a bios upgrade to support the tu cpus(last gen p4) but the laptops board and chipset where compatable, he was able to take out the 733 p3 and put a 1.4gz celeron tu(100mhz ver of the p3 tu chips)
huge perf boost and heat was just a little higher(i replaced the stock lappy cooling fan with a higher flow one for him)

I can see asus arse raming their paying customers, its why i sold off my 2 am2 asus boards and went back fully to biostar :D

ya Im just wondering when they will release a TForce Power AMD Chipset board other than the 750a, and also the Jetway boards are looking Enticing.

ohh , sounds good from amd , we know about denap which is dual core cpu now we go to see some good quad phenom 2
