Graphics Card- Nvidia Go 7800GTX
Case- XPS M170

So far the only step I've done is the case mod because I need money for the rest of the hardware. The specs RIGHT NOW are-

Processor- Pentium M 740 1.73ghz w/533mhz fsb
RAM- 1gb DDR2-533
Graphics Card- Nvidia Go 6800

Mods:
First and foremost this was an Inspiron 9300 before. But I am converting it to a full XPS Gen2/M170. My case is the biggest mod so far. I replaced the back cover, bezel, center control cover, and palmrest from the 9300 to the XPS. Only thing I haven't converted is the lighting system because according to Dell "the 9300 motherboard does not have any light controllers or connectors" so I'm buying some cheap small blue LED's where the real ones are supposed to go. I've also flashed the BIOS from 9300 to XPS Gen2. It was successful but I didn't buy the 130w power supply it needed yet so I reflashed it to 9300 because it took down my performance a huge amount since it thought it NEEDED a 130w supply with the XPS Gen2 BIOS.

For the future hardware mods, I'm going to get the 7800GTX first, then the Core Duo (because it's a Yonah core so it might not be compatible with my 478 motherboard, I'm not sure) and then the RAM.

That is really cool. How are you going to replace the GFX card? Is it not soldered to the board?

No, for the 9300 and XPS series the graphics card is USER-REPLACABLE! That's pretty much 80% of the reason I decided to get it.

nice

i like laptops for there mobility. I have an Panasonic Toughbook CF18 i use primarliy for work and i has been a great machine.a bit slow cause i only have the base 256mb of memory.

great setup you have there

That's cool, but I was just wondering, when you get that 7800GTX, are you going to play more on your laptop than desktop?

lol azn, yeah I totally stopped modding my desktop (Jet Blue in the case gallery) cause first the XP 3200+ burned out, then I got 2 new motherboards (one was faulty) and an Opty 148, then I shocked my 6800GT and gotta get that repaired. Plus for 6 months I haven't gotten it to run because every step of the way I find problems. So in short yeah, I'll use my laptop 100% for games, lol, I mean I do now. Either way it would be even more powerful than my desktop

Need to be more careful with the components, no?

Nice laptop, not a big fan of laptops, but nice.

It´s unique; I wonder how could you get a 7800 inside

well the 7800gtx (and 6800 Ultra too) are the exact size of the 6800 I have (plus they're all built for that 9300/XPS frame), the only difference is the 6800 Ultra and 7800gtx have an extra heatpipe to cool them instead of just 1.

I voted 4/10 because:
