SAPPHIRE Technology is now introducing the SAPPHIRE ATOMIC HD 4870 X2, an exclusive new dual GPU water cooled version of the standard ATI HD 4870 X2 card. Because the article is written in Greek which is not my strongest language, I'll stick to the specs and pics, after all that's all we need. As usual, the SAPPHIRE ATOMIC HD 4870 X2 comprises of two complete HD 4870 graphics systems on a single PCI-Express card connected by an on-board PCI Express Gen 2 bridge chip. Each GPU has 1GB of GDDR5 memory, making a total of 2GB on-board memory. Core clock speed for this model is 800MHz, there are 2x800 stream processors, the memory clock speed is 1000MHz with 512-bit memory interface. What's so special in this model is the full cover liquid cooling provided by the famous OEM cooling expert Asetek. The water-block cools both GPUs, all memory chips, the bridge chip and all the power elements. Two Dual Link DVI outputs are provided as well as TV-Out. Additionally the card's bundle includes a CCL UV lamp and Sapphire USB memory stick with drivers. The card will be available starting December 18th for a MSRP of $649.

Special thanks to our reader GoriLLakoS for this post.

At that price it better be able to do my laundry too!

This is great price is very low for what it its, i wish i had one instead of mine aired

Single 120mm Rad???

Really? Is just a single-rad going to cool that card effectively?

Is that a CPU block as well?
CPU + HD4870x2 being cooled by a 120 rad will never work.

/lots of info deleted/

Not a bad price really. I was thinking that one thing was like a weight, not a cpu block.

Can the watercooling kit be purchased alone?

It's an OEM WC solution designed by Akasa. The Atomic HD 3870 X2 had a 120mm rad as well.

Edit: that cylindrical thing is reservoir+pump.

Looks cool. But for the price I can buy a custom water cooling setup for my hd4870x2.

You do realise that a HD4870X2 card is included in the price?

Nice idea for people wanting to get in to water-cooling but are too lazy/don;t have the time. But for anyone else i think the better option would be to buy a stand alone cooling rig that can also be used on the cpu and be upgraded

yea, i agree, i think its better off go custom, those WC editions are usually not great quality. I remember reading about BFG's WC cards and how the thermal paste was literally overflowing

with that small rad on it, add a open Reservoir and you can use it as a egg cooker too:laugh:

Yes but with the 100USD difference you cant even purchase a WB

A WB only, not a WB + a cooling loop.

This is a great deal. One can't crib about the small radiator unless it's proven it sucks.

If it were me, I'd buy it, and replace the rad and pump with my own wares. I'd basically just be paying $100 for the water block, which is still cheaper than buying a normal 4870X2 and adding your own full-coverage block.

649$ with this block , too much

Thats what i was saying, you CAN'T even buy a WB, look at swiftech caldera, 150USD

absolutely!!!
this is the way to go. This is a great card and the block should do its job. And if one has a WC already installed this is a case of just adding the card to it, leaving out the rad and pump!
