Converting rmvb files

Ok I've been trying for the past few days to convert some rmvb video files to .avi so I can use them in vlc player instead of using real player. I've used formatfactory and magic video converter and everytime I convert them the frames per second are very low or there is no sound and the frames per second is too high.

I think the problem is that the rmvb files are of a variable bitrate and I have no idea how to convert them to another format.

RM, so evil. I recall RAD game tools working fine with RM and RAM in the past.

I want to convert them just to get rid of that callous real player.

Try this once. Use either Klite player(media player classic) or KMultimedia player to run the video, and use 'Save as' to save the video as .avi file, you have to manually name it as .avi file.

Try Total Video Convertor, i had the same problem but this little app worked for me. PM me and i can e-mail you a "trial" if you like

dont know if it will work, but i use SuperC video converter for my creative video player. it has converted everything i tried so far. plus its multithreaded, so its fast.

I don't think its a converter problem tbh I think it might be the crappy codec used in the video.

K, i had the same problem with 75% of my rmvb files, but after i used this program 100% would convert. If the files play in realplayer it isn;t a problem with the codec.
Try searching for real alternative if you don;t want to use realplayer - it will let you play rm files in any media player.

Try total video converter, it's designed to convert rmvb files to other formats

Ok total video converter worked

I used to use that but got rid of it because it took ages to queue files to convert.

Cool - It's a bit of a pain to use i agree. i only use it for rmvb otherwise i use jetaudio.
Glad to see it's sorted tho.
