Double my 202.

Damn it, why do these stupid things cost that much?

I don't think I like the idea of a singed disc :D

At the moment, I find bluray to be completely restictive as a viable backup method due to the extortionate costs of the writable media for them, the 8X discs are going to make that even worse.

with the world economy in such dire straits, people will wait even longer to switch
to blu-ray

Still not as fast as a decent HDD. Cheaper and faster to buy a couple 1TB drives than a BD-ROM and a stack of discs.

Right on the money.

Although I'm not yet interested in burning Blu-Ray, you really can't go wrong with Pioneer optical devices. I can't wait until the price of media comes down.

Does it seem obvious? Electronics with new technologies are always pricier than our current generation of electronics. In other words, BluRay is a new technology that is being attempted to push the price into the consumer range. If it's too much for you, get a BluRay Reader for just over $100 if that makes you feel better :D
