LG Rolls Out New HD Monitors

yeah and 1920x1440 is better than 1920x1200

as far as most games are concerned, it doesnt matter - you're getting the same image as on a 16:9 screen, only with only with a bit of stretching.

Sometimes i think you guys dont realise in games you ARENT getting more view area - you're getting a distorted, stretched 16:9 image - DVD movies and then consoles have made 16:9 the default aspect ratio

I realize that. But a stretched image at a higher res will give better image quality.

I guess if you include console games into that mix?

I work as much as I game as much as I watch movies as much as I web. So far nothing has been as nice as a 16:10 screen for me. Not that I want to sway anyone from their positions, I'm just saying to all the manufacturers lurking here in the forums that if they 'forget' about 16:10, then I won't be buying that 16:9 monitor for my bedroom, or wherever that ratio works best. I'm stubborn enough to wait until there are no more 16:10 monitors left on earth :D

For those wanting resolution, tell manufacturers to get back to work on 3840x2400 panels like we had 8 years ago! :banghead:

I'm waiting for some idems to sell on ebay,, as soon as I get one I'll do some testing.

I put it this way: 1920x1200 can do 1920x1080. 1920x1080 can't do 1920x1200. Fair enough?
Stick with 1920x1200, or be had by the MAN at 1080p.

My old 22" crt iiyama did 2048x1536
but it lacked wide screen. I hope LCD panels go that way soon,,

I don't know what games you are playing, but none of mine are stretched between 1920x1080 and 1920x1200. The images aren't stretched at all when compared directly, and in most games, 19x12 does have more viewing area. Sure, there are exceptions, but they are just that, exceptions, not the rule.

... no. no it doesnt. it tends to look worse, and quite a lot worse at that.

I havent noticed that much of a difference between 16:9 and 16:10, to tell you the truth, if you were to quiz me on it by picture, I would have a very hard time telling the difference. 4:3 stretched to 16:9 can be pretty brutal though, but still very watchable.
I would rather 16:9 and 16:10 co-exist, they both have their own responsibilities towards consumers.
