Correction: GeForce GTX 260 In For Yet Another Price Cut

The article has since been edited. It's actually the GTX260 that's dropping to $179

hahah quite right!

finally, take that ATi, YOU are being undercut now... on the whole the 4870-1gb performs a little worse than a GTX260 and now costs more, funny to see the tables flipped

Down with competition! :rockout:

Down with competition! :rockout:

hahahah awwwwwwww, you know it wont last long, as ATI have as a trend of late, they will yet again undercut nvidia, just wait for it.

as if there isn't a huge amount of competition right now dude, the market is about as competitive as it ever has been, great price/performance all round and a product for everyone.

Wow. This is the GTX 260 216sp down to $179.99 in price? Hopefully the price will translate to the price in Canada. Our GTX 260 216s are still hovering above $280s mark before MIR.

OMG.. Look at newegg. XFX GTX 260 216 for $199.99 before $30 MIR. I guess the previous $199.99 price is in session. Just a few more days before the $179.99 price.

The price should come down soon, even the 4870's price cuts still have yet to happen.

silently waits for ATI to drop the price again

^^

So it's actually the GTX260 the one undercutting?? And the 216Sp one I suppose, as the other one was phased out by the 216 one.

IMO this is so much for the chip/pcb production cost theorists and naysayers. I mean according to what Charlie at the Inq says about costs, Nvidia must be selling the cards $100-200 lower than what it costs to make them.

lowest price here in aus for 4870 his HD 1GB so far is $320 dollars. compared to GTX260 and 4870 1GB IceQ Version are still 380 - 400 and up.

I bought my 4850 IceQ4 versions for 305...... need to sell them >_> WTS!!!

link me to where you found a 1Gb 4870 for that cheap, that's nuts!, cheapest in Perth is still 400+ as is the GTX260 (pretty much exactly same price here)

I'm still waiting on these price cuts, I just might have to swap out my 4850 and pick up a 4870 for fun. :)

http://www.bttech.com.au/powercolor-radeon-pcie-4870-p-23817.html heres the 1gb its 370 actually lol, still way cheap though. 60 - 70 dollars away from a 4850.

GTX260 in shop bot is still 380+ but would probably drop price soon.
