Bungie studios is hard at work creating a DirectX 10 compliant version of the sequel to one of the most popular Xbox games. Halo 2 for Vista does not have system requirements released yet, cannot play against Xbox Live customers, supports the Xbox 360 controller, and is almost exactly like it's Xbox counterpart released three years ago. The Halo 2 for Vista homepage has all current news on the project, FAQ's, and screenshots.

Do any of you guys play Halo 2 on Xbox Live? What level are you?

Yeah that looks like crap. no that i really think about it.

Its gonna be a worse port than halo 1... Halo 1 was PC code essentially.. Halo 2 was built with xbox 360 in mind... so its not gonna be a straight pc port..

Hopefully the developer has the balls to actually do some coding...

but yes, that screenie looks just like halo 1... which I guess is the same game almost..

Halo 3 is the pretty one... :)

Maybe I'm thinking of Halo 3? Some new one that was supposed to the shit? I don't play the series but if this is going to be a Vista launch title.... :shadedshu

Halo 2 was made way before Xbox 360 even came out, around 2-3 years ago.

Does ANYONE play Halo 2 on Xbox Live? I need new people to play MLG with, since I'm getting tired of playing with Pros.

Wow, years later and a crappy port of Halo 2. Can't you play a few Halo 2 levels on Halo CE with modded maps that even allow the new health feature?

Well Xbox 1 was Direct X 8 based, so why again do we need Vista to run the port? Smells like BS to me. Too bad no one will buy it because Halo 2 blew chunks :toast:

wHAT a wast of time...

It doesn't matter. You think microsoft is going to let "their baby" halo NOT get a lot of special help from microsoft?

Without halo, the xbox would have failed miserably.

Microsoft helps develop it, and they have stated they coded Halo 2 to be compatable with the xbox 360.

Hence why it runs smoother being emulated on the 360 than on the regular xbox ;)

Please, consider what you are comparing before you make blind assumptions ;)

and here i just got halo1 3 days ago...good thing i didnt pay for it. it is a riot on a lan though..

Halo 2 actually has some problems on Xbox 360, such as ghosting and other image problems. And while maps like Lockout might look great, other like Backwash look horrible. You need to have experience first before you say anything.

And they stated they coded Halo 2 to be compatible with the 360, like many other titles, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was built with the "360 in mind", but just to run on the 360.

i will tell ya this...they had better crank up the textures and aa/af as that was the most noticeable to me on the 360.

I've only put in over 75 hours on halo 2+360 and only noticed its noticably faster than regular xbox

Having beat it on regular xbox, then LANNING with friends for quite a while now, without a hiccup, I think I "have experience" before saying something.

You have to give the screenshot some leeway, I did kinda resize it to 800x600 from 1920x1200 :p.

Think they just made the screens at a very low resolution, because they cant sell a game that looks like that, of course. Looks crap, SOF2 looked nicer, lol.

cya

Halo 2 was built on a modified Halo1 engine. The game was designed from the ground up to run well on the Xbox - full stop. The game does run "well" on the 360, no doubt because of the dedication of the Bungie/MS studio - they need to have the most popular game of the last five years running on their newest system...
The game should not be any more difficult than Halo 1 to port, but that port was piss poor... Anyway, Halo 2 is a great game, better than most on PC - but if you want to play it, buy an Xbox - it's cheaper than Vista...

While we're talking about Halo graphics engines and Xbox360, I have to say that any version of halo on any Xbox SUCKS on a widescreen display. I had an opportunity to play Halo 2 on an Xbox360 with a really big widescreen. It looked like laggy silly putty. It looks better on my friends Xbox with normal screen TV.

that screenshot reminds me of Halo 1 for pc and that was the 2nd worst conversion of a pc game i have ever played (the worst being metal gear solid 2). The funny thing about is Halo 2 for pc is meant to be the showcase for DX10 only for vista lol

Does anyone have Xbox Live and play Halo 2 on it? Dippyskoodlez, do you?

I used to, but it's just too full of whiney american kids telling me about their L337 skillz and shouting down their live mic like some half-pissed monkey on speed. It got too much for me, and I now don't play live that much... PGR3 every now and then, but nothing much till Halo 3 methinks...

What was your level?

The most I ever got was 42, nothing past it. LEGIT too, until modding and bridging became all popular and all.
