I doubt they will look that bad. Like I said, if you want to see this already implemented go get SWAT4(it actually isn't that bad of a game). They did a pretty decent job of making the the ads blend in with the levels. I didn't even notice them until my one friend pointed out that they were advertising real things.

ea actually had ads in most wanted and underground 2 if u looked. they had bk best buy and a few others. the main problem with that is there were like 5 different ads threwout the whole game so there was no variety, like in the real world. hell some of the billboard ads around here are funny as hell.

Its highly unlikely they'll lower the price of the game, and its highly unlikely that we'd get 'free subscriptions'.

You do know that BF2 is free online... sdo BF2142 will most likely be also

of course but the main problem is game publishers trying to make money for everything these days just look at the xbox360 as example with downloadable addons for a charge, it wouldnt surprise me if we soon see a pay monthly FPS soon for pc but nodoubt it will totally fail in sales if they do realese some such game

i dont know about that man. look at all the subscribe based games there are these days. hell u have to pay to play online with consoles so why not pcs? there isnt much stopping them other then options players have. as is rpgs are the only pay to play style of game, but that can always change.

I don't think this is entirely a "lets see how much extra money we can make off this" thing. I really think that EA has learned the hard way how much it costs to run an online game. Look at all the servers they run for BF2, and all work they have to do to regulate all the other ranked servers that they don't personally maintain. All of that costs money, and with as popular as online gaming is getting more and more companies that run large numbers of servers for their games are going to have to find ways to pay to support those servers. So it really does come down to an issue of either forcing the people who have already paid $50 for the game to then pay a monthly fee to play it online, or put ads in it to generate ad revenue. I say as long as the ads don't interfere with my gameplay I would rather have them, then have to pay to play.

You forget that people pay a pretty hefty sum monthly for EA to host their "ranked" servers, EA wins when you buy the game and when you play it.
