Buffalo Revamps Nail-Sized USB Drive with Card Reader

Remember this thumbnail-sized USB drive by Buffalo? The company developed the idea further with the RMUM-H, which, not only packs up to 16 GB of data in its thumbnail-sized package measuring 11 (W) x 15 (H) x 1 (D) mm, but also holds a Micro-SD/Micro-SDHC card reader that expands its capacity. The card reader can be used to port data between compatible phones and cameras, and the PC. The 16 GB variant (RMUM-16GH/BK) is priced at 10,900 JPY (US $112), the 8 GB one (RMUM-8GH/BK) at 5,200 JPY ($53), 4 GB one (RMUM-4GH/BK) at 2,600 JPY ($26.5), and a 2 GB (RMUM-2GH/BK) variant for 1,700 JPY ($17.5). There is provision for a lanyard or keychain, which is very much welcome.

These things are awesome but just like my lil mini sd card reader they tend get lost the need to put a keyring on it so u can hook it to something as not to lose it.
You would be hard pressed to find something that would actualy fit through the lanyard part of it maybe some fishing line ?

Meh, I've got the Kingston with an 8gb Class 6 Transcend MicroSD in it... it's not much bigger and only cost about $25 total.

I like it It wont get lost because I would just leave it in the usd port 24/7. They way I do it now is a lame 3 step process. MiniSD - SD adapter - SD card reader- then to the usb port.

There's no point in these things unless it's for some extra storage in a laptop. You'd have to hook this up to a key chain or something in order not to use it, and to have to take your keys out every time you want to use the USB it kills the point of the minuscule size.

I'm all for miniaturization, but I have to agree with the others who think that without a strap or ring of some kind this would get lost very quickly.

I think it was meant to be kept in the laptop most of the time. It's also made for the Japanese market. This model is very popular here right now.
