Toshiba & Memory Tech have just announced that they have created a three layer disk, which uses one layer for DVD and two layers for HD-DVD content. That would enable the movie studios to create hybrid DVD/HD-DVD, eliminating the confusion among buyers. Being playable on DVDs and HD-DVD in their respective resolution enables not-so-early adopters to purchase media which will work on high-definition systems in the future.

now thats a good idea and these disks should still be sold at regular DVD film prices too

with tons more storage? doubt it. these discs will without a doubt cost more then regular dvds or hddvds for that matter.

nah if anything id exspect these disks to retail for a slight increase on the price of regular dvd disks otherwise people wouldnt buy them and with the soon to be legal film downloads making optical alternative overlay exspensive wont realy help them sell much on disk in the near future
