AMD wants to give its DirectX 11 compliant GPU lineup a gala unveiling on September 10. Codemaned "Evergreen", the family consists of an entire range of GPUs, catering to nearly all market segments. In the run-up to September 10, AMD EMEA and APAC will hold a series of briefings with its partners and/or sections of the media. It will be on the 10th, when a lot of things will go public.

Evergreen's unveiling will take place at the USS Hornet, a decommissioned US Navy aircraft-carrier turned heritage museum. The location and timing of the event holds symbolism with the Patriots & Heroes Week (September 5~11th). As for what happens after the 10th, it is indicated that performance evaluations, (p)reviews, could start pouring in two weeks later (around September 24). Stores will have stocked these graphics cards as they deck up shelves with Windows 7 copies.

makes sense to take a pre-emptive strike against nvidia from a carrier :p

Well knowing ATI's track record of GPU performance since the 2900XT its clear that the new card will end up in the museum :nutkick:

Yep like the 9800XT, thats still widely used, or the 4800 series that gave performance never before seen for under 130$, and forced nvidia to lower prices, worthy of a museum if you ask me. :toast:

Eh, what ?

silly ATI... don't they know that us geeks/gamers/addicts rarely ever go to museums?

I have a hunch that this card will be something really special.

For sure, I mean the 2900's were horrible cards, till they set records because they OC'd a ton. Then the 3800's roll around and offer the same power, but get rid of a ton of issues, then add in a 2x GPU card that reigned benching and gaming, then the awesome 4800's came out and force NV to lower their price and the 4870x2 followed and once again held the crown. They have been doing great, and now they will be releasing DX11 cards months ahead of NV... :nutkick:

why does it always have to be a nutkick, cant one brand just be happy for the other? remember ATi beat Nvidia to the punch with the RV770 chip, but was nvidia out of the game? not even close.

Come one people can we save the nut-kicking till you actually know how it performs, and maybe even how the competition performs.

I guess not, silly question.

it is funny they are doing it 32 miles from nvidia's headquarters :p

Just like the TWKR, the 2900 was a leaky chip, and could oc like crazy, if you froze it first heheh

hehe i still think ati forgot where amd was

Hello time traveler from the year 2007! You'll be amazed at the achievements that ATI has come up with since your time -- welcome to the future!

And watch out, or you'll end up in a museum yourself!

It's just amazing in the shorttime from when AMD was letting people go like crazy to having a "gala" for a FREAKIN video card. It's nice to see AMD back on it's feet competing again.
