AMD Evergreen Awaits Gala Unveiling Aboard USS Hornet

It's just amazing in the shorttime from when AMD was letting people go like crazy to having a "gala" for a FREAKIN video card. It's nice to see AMD back on it's feet competing again.

it wont be any diff then any other event

silly ATI... don't they know that us geeks/gamers/addicts rarely ever go to museums?

I have a hunch that this card will be something really special.

its just a venue if the museum gets any exposure tll be good for them too. I saw autolux at the natural history museum. I didnt go cause i like history i went cause they had a empty hall for them to play in. ;)

it is funny they are doing it 32 miles from nvidia's headquarters :p
Santa Clara to Sunnyvale is what <5 miles?
it's should be something like this :D

now the consumer just needs a use for these DX11 cards. i doubt there is one single software company out there who has a timetable for creating a DX11 game.

Codemasters for sure is on board. There are others too.

im sure there are all on board. but none of them have a timetable for dx11 games. atleast they havnt announced any. btw, erocker let's play l4d tonight.

DiRT 2, GRID 2, Crysis 2, Stormrise, and some others I can't remember are DX11. I will definitely play some L4D. Now L4D2 is a game that SHOULD be DX11.

well that is good. i had no idea. do they have any release dates? and are they going to be dx10 games that can "do" dx 11?

Dirt 2 already has a demo on the 360. I bet the PC version is just waiting on ATI to ship.

All I know is this better be awesome. As a stock holder I can think of better ways to spend my money than renting an Aircraft carrier to debut a new GPU............Well maybe not. I just wish I could go.

AMD was demonstrating their DX11 cards with the new Wolf game.

Unveiling at a "museum"? Does that mean the card is archaic?

And they are calling it "evergreen"! A card branded in nVidia's colour-space?

AMD Marketing Team to fall on swords immediately. If they dont do it of their own accord, they should be pushed.

They are using the term Evergreen to try to win over the enviro-tard crowd. Nothing to do with nVidia and it's green goblin schtick.

If this card is as good as people are saying it's gonna be, then we all win. If you are an Amd/Ati fan then your team put out a decent product and you can make a retard out of yourself on forums all around the internet, proclaiming you fanboi-ism to anyone who will listen.
If you like nVidia instead, you win too, because it will force team green to lower prices on their current cards, and debut their next gen for less than they would normally gouge you for.
And then you can go about internet forums making a fool of yourself by fighting over a brandname/product with the Ati/Amd tards.
Personally, I will just grab another 4870 or 2 and drop them in crossfire (trifire!) when evergreen forces the 48xx prices into the $100 zone.

If the top-end cards really do consume 27W in idle mode, the term "Evergreen" is well deserved.

That would be nice -- would mean they'd finally fixed the problems with stepping down the clocks on GDDR5 without any flickering (not that I really care about flickering  ).
