AMD Demonstrates the PC's Next Act at Experience Events Worldwide

i would rather buy 1 big screen than 4 small

yeah fior sure... all of those multi screen setups mean the crosshair cant be seen!!! not good for pretty much anything that you need to look at ;)

Samsung wants to get out "ultra-thin" bezels just for this Eyefinity thing, so it would be possible... still, would the cost of 6 monitors be less than that of a big ass FullHD TV?... or better than it? it's not like from a safe distance you can actually see great difference from the 5760x2400 res that was showed off compared to actual 1080p. (it's like the maximum frame... most kids like to achieve the biggest max fps, when more importantly is the minimum fps)

It would be nice as a multi-user system... one dad can watch/read something on the net... while one kid can do its hours of daily gaming. And there's one mom who might want to check out some groceries... all from one PC. How would that sound?

Awaiting Nvidia's response! Let the WAR start!

Looks cool, but I never been able to stand any displays like that just like seems everyone else feels, the space that each monitor case takes up between the next monitor just kills my eyes. Ends up not looking very good to me in the end.

And I still dont understand why we have to deal with black bars on a lot of video. Why call anything widescreen, then still have it show freaking black bars, make it a true widescreen so we just dont have to deal with that crap. (Not ATI's fault, just venting after seeing the black bars in the vid).

Hey!! ATI stole the computer from my dreams. :(

P.S. does anyone think the narrator in the video was very dull? He sounds like he is selling life insurance or something.

Don't get me wrong, this is F'n bad ass, but having that many monitors while playin a game would get annoying imho, because the fact the bezels on the monitors would annoy the HELL out of me.

if they made super thin bezel panels that were like .25" then that would be fine but most bezels are .5"

I think it's just meant to display the power of the cards. Sort of a nudge to monitor makers to work on making higher resolutions more affordable I guess.

All this looks bawls! Very epic I must say! :D

1080p is for the weak
2560x1600 is where it's at(times 24 of course)

and for fps' you can just use a 3x3 array and not have to worry about the cross-hairs being blocked

actually 5:4 is where its at (1280x1024 and 1920x1200) 16:9= Bleh

you may be right, but some fat nerdy kid will get some smart skinny nerd to price and build a computer and this smart nerdy kid will try and convince his fat friend to get his rich parents to buy him 6x30" oled monitors.

it'll happen.

2560x1600 = 16:10, not wide enough.
I think it would be nice if lots of games would support the 21:9 ratio and then make a big as screen out of that :P.

they kinda already do that, games have no issues with new aspect ratios.

MOVIES DO!!!!!

After seeing it in person tonight, I think its cool. The only problem is, how many people can actually afford the setup?

I think I did see some kind of LCD that is attachable to each others, so you can add as many as you want... can't remember where I saw it.

I just bought a 4870

Methinks a quick upgrade is coming. :-P

How could I get a decent fps with a crazy resloution like that ???

It seem I'll have to buy a 8 way Crossfire (if that existed) to get 60fps xD

By the way, AMD wants trouble, right ?

"The speed and intuitiveness of this popular processing-intensive task is unmatched by all-Intel platform offerings costing much more"

They started it....

Well the new GPUs are so powerfull that you won't need more than a 2-way Crossfire of HD5870s to play any recent game at those resolutions..

Oh yeah, here comes another "Can-of-whoop-ass" soap opera :D
It's weird they didn't mention nVidia, though. It's like they don't count as a platform anymore.

If this really happens, I'm gonna buy nVidia's card instead of AMD's. It is too evil for AMD to do this, they really want trouble.

I remember seeing this more than 10 years ago.. It was mono-chrome green and a long way off of being 'true color'.. But the big thing was it's flexible to fit any surface (cars, planes, walls, peoples clothes).. It will either be this or 'paint on' screens that will be the next big thing in video..

Waiting for the day we plug a display port into our skulls and close our eyes for video..:rockout:

is there any word on exactly what model these cards are, i would not be suprised if there a dual gpu so 4 X 5870x2's if not and they are only 4 X 5870's just think of what 4 X 5870x2's could do

They are just leveraging the use of the GPU to perform CPU calculations in much higher speed, thus they can transcode or accelerate a video with more advanced tech than Intel and do it wtih less power (hopefully) and much faster.

Imagine 4 of the 2GB cards and a 12 core CPU......
