Slovenian water-cooling components specialist EK Water Blocks is readying one of the first water blocks for the AMD Radeon HD 5870 accelerator. Called EK FCS5870, it is a full-coverage water block from the looks of it, cooling all essential components on the PCB, including the GPU, memory, and VRM. The first picture below shows a CAD drawing of a design candidate. The second one is a picture of the ready copper block sans its top, revealing the water channel, and the heat-dissipation ribs over the GPU area. EK intends to complete the design of the FCS5870 by the end of this month.

Many Thanks to Fitseries3 for sending this in.

Great stuff from Eddy :D I like to see the water channel running havily over the VRM section :toast:

*drool* EK goodness...

Am I the only one that sees this as good and bad? Its nice that they are making aftermarket gear for it already, but I guess they haven't solved the extreme heat issue. I know its gonna get smoking hot regardless (powerful card), but I wonder if the NVIDIA counterpart will run better?

yes we see the good and the bad... lol its a water block article it was gonna exist weather the HIGH END card was "hot" or not. We are only excited. When you overclock your card you create and "extreme heat" condition. The temps on the review of this card were prety decent for what it does, and where it is. Im sure when aim for revision heat will be in mind.

Water blocks come out for cards whether they are hot or not. Its for overclocking enthusiasts.

nice piece of copper from Ek :D

nice from EK but i wish they would re-design their internals sometime soon, ek is at a stand still while all other block companys are moving forward fast

That is a sick block!

I couldn't help but notice their logo looks very similar to Etnies logo.:p

I was thinking the same thing but didnt know if anybody would know the brand here.

I sure didn't know that brand. Nice looking block but Im not sure what some of you mean by solving the extreme heat issues (which I thought water took care of) and the not moving forward while other companies are.

lol weird ass spam right there
