Antec Readies Airy LanBoy Air ATX Case

lmao, I just saw Bumblebee's sig and I thought to myself, I wonder if that case was made from a wrecked 2010 Chevy Camaro. So So So sad. Something tells me this is going to be the first time ppl burn up fans from dust clog.

I don't see why people keep complaining about dust. It's not like it's hard to use a can of air.

yes unfortunately Antec has desecrated my color scheme <punches air like no other>

i'm sure the temperatures will be great, it's a open air design but not sure about noise and dust.

gamers are incredibly lazy they spend so much money on components that are cosmetically pleasing and have a hard time keeping them clean.

Best airflow is actually from positive pressure, and not open air.

uhh not really, a test bench with some fans will always have lower temps than any case - but at the same time you are correct in saying that positive pressure is the ideal for case airflow because it prevents every gap in the case from becoming dust suction.

Free cheese grater on top! Grate your cheese, place a sandwich on top of the cpu cooler, let the cheese melt on the sandwich and voilĂ ! And if it gets too hot, just put the fans on full blast, then you have fine cheesy aroma in your room... :rockout:

MARVELLOUS!

Ok, for realz, wtf is that?

It'll go great with my DeWalt cordless tool set.

Good, another fugly case for the chickens too afraid to mod. :wtf:

Hi, thanks for your comments. We have just shown the preliminary version (not the final version with full features) to journalists and reviewers in the major cities around Europe. The comments of these people who have seen it in person, rather than just judging by the photos, and understand the ultimate feature set for this case have been very positive.

Of course, everyone is welcome to their opinion but we do feel that you have to see it in person to really judge a case this unique and innovative. Our plan is to have the final version ready for public showing in about 90 days and available for purchase shortly thereafter.

Great an antec guy to talk to! (seriously :))

Right now your cases are huge with small time computer builders, I hear tons of idiots in my classes at uni bragging about how they got a 900 or a 1200, and that's fine because they are most of the market for sure.

But you cant try to pass this design off on the high end enthusiast builders (much of the guys on forums like here and XS and others) we do want the features like cable management and good airflow design - but we want it to look good and be constructed well too!

The super industrial / over the top plastic molded accents on all these cases is U-G-L-Y. instead of making the case try to look like it belongs on a construction site make it look like a sleek powerful high tech machine. Nobody has a construction site in their house and very few people want to. You wanna see what sleek and clean is, look at my work or charles_h's or boddaker's or bill owen's or any other of the top computer modders.

but hey, maybe you just want that big market of small time builders and not the enthusiasts

I was a big fan of antec cases and used them in all of my builds that I did for customers previously... mainly the cheap mid-size cases with the metal / brushed steel look front and antec psu.... (like the antec solo's)

They were a fantastic price point and allowed me to do a good cheap custom build for the general public with a quality feel. Unfortunately the last time i purchased one of those the metal front was replaced with plastic (looking like metal, probably to keep costs down)... and since then I havent used another... not only to mention that the price went up substantially and the case without PSU on its own ended up being the same price as i was paying for both together before.

Im sure with the crashing of world markets and all this has changed things in most companies but I do miss having a quality bargain like that available so that a small computer builder like myself can make a quality setup at an attractive pricepoint for people.

+100 I was hoping a pro modder would chime in...

that case looks like a yellow LEGO shagged a roll of mesh.

makes me think of:

I honestly dont think this case will sell well at all... the people that think that something like that looks good are few and far between. It manages to look industrial and dorky at the same time.

O.O Antec Representative?

You know what's sad about that. They attempted to defend an existing product that 58 posts before them said fail rather then ask the community how to improve on it. "This is what we made, it's good, just ask journalists and reviewers". Typical corporate fail.

yeah marketing damage control. Seems like they tried to copy Cooler Master and their HAF line, while trying to be unique at the same time. But they somehow managed to make it even uglier .

oh and one more thing antec rep, really just a pro-tip: cater to the liquid cooling market with your cases or corsair, coolermaster and lian-li are going to make your case sales a thing of the past.

and no I am not talking about that crappy ass aluminum radiator you guys sell for the 900/1200

But you really need to see it in person to know just how ugly it really is
