Hello all

i currently own a Gygabyte gtx 260 896 mb DDR3
but it's currently living in a old P4 d940 at 3.2ghz

i plan to buy a i7 and nice asus mobo within a month or two (advice on that welcomed too) and a samsung 22inch 2ms screen

i dont truely know the power of my GPU since my cpu is too old...

gaming wise im into NBA 2K10 pretty ressource hungry as most latest games

i want perfect fps like i had a ps3

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE :

My gtx 260 will be good enough for 22 inch with a new cpu ?

Or should i invest in SLI with a second 260 to really be confortable or wait another 2 years to buy top notch gpu again

thx for everybody's advice

Your 260 should be plenty for a 22inch.
I run one and run all my games at max res with no issues. But then I don't do Crysis.

260 should be fine for your monitor, I have 9800 GTs and they are plenty for my gaming needs (my new 22" monitor is coming in today).

If you are mainly a gamer, get the i5. Even if you did do very CPU intensive tasks, the i5 is still up to snuff. :toast:

You referring the the $900 Thermaltake case there? The one being produced in limited numbers? :p

If your looking for the cheapest option, go with AMD's Phenom Series. In real world tests (IE Gaming), AMD's X4 965 is only slightly behind the i7 920 for a fraction of the cost.

agree, phenoms II are just as good for gaming. i5 is definitely a great choice, i7 860 is same processor just 134mhz faster and with hyperthreading but with a 50% price increase

i forgot to say the pc will mainly be used for heavy photoshopping and pro audio producing...as well as for gaming...

kenshai : yeah i wish i could get TT level 10... i fell in love with the concept...not with the price...so i think ill go for ELEMENTS G

i really like Thermaltake even though all the towers i have owned shark or eureka they always had some little thing that bothered me...

i buy a pc every 3-4 years...i always go for intel and nvidia on a asus...

hope i wont be disapointed by evga ...im not an overclocker...but i might try it who knows

A GTX 260 is absolutely good enough for a 22 inch monitor. Had one paired with an Athlon64 X2 6400+ and it was O.K., but when I built a new PC with an Phenom II X4 955 it really helped the GPU stretch it legs. You'll see a healthy increase in performance with a new CPU paired with the GTX 260.
